  1. I'm doing extinction rebellion action this weekend. Feels great!

  2. What about just Aromantic plain and simple? ? Is there some reason you feel aromantic doesn't fit you?
  3. When I think about it, why do we even need a Latin term? Wouldn't it be better to just say romancenormativity (romonormativity for short ?) Much more intuitive IMO.
  4. It took me a long time to even learn the word. What helped was just thinking about it as two separate words amato normativity. Otherwise it's way too long. And I say that as a Swede ??
  5. I know this topic has been up before but I think there's room for another one. Share your recommendations of no-romo movies. Preferably also write why you recommend it.
  6. I'm sorry I missed this topic, possibly it's too late to comment now. I think your idea sounds good. I don't know of any short films with aromatic topics. If you want to play a clip show of different scenes I made two videos with that.
  7. Hi! Welcome to the forums. About relationship, you can still be in a romantic committed relationship even if you don't have romantic feelings. I have a friend who's been in a relationship for over a year and he's told me he's not in love with her but he enjoys being with her.
  8. The pleasure you mentioned @Blake was not what I expected. But it reminded me of one of my own small pleasures. Picking my teeth. I have these teeth sticks, they're flat not round like tooth picks. And I use them every morning and evening. It's so satisfying, I get lots of little food bits of and it feels good against my gums. I'd encourage everyone to get into this habit. At first your gums might bleed and hurt, because they have inflammation, but after a week or so of getting cleaned regularly they will get better. That's the end of my PSA ?
  9. Maybe it could just be a hand motion. Some sort of combination of rude gesture and shrug,
  10. Welcome back! "It's complicated" I agree! We should make that a specific label for sexual orientation. Itscomplicatedsexual. Might be a mouthful though.
  11. I've never used the term platonic attraction so I don't know. But what else would you call being interested in making friends with someone? I feel like it should be able to encompass attraction of different levels. From an intense squish to just a general interest in befriending someone, or interest for an existent friend.
  12. I personally feel it makes more sense to use aplatonic for someone who does not experience platonic attraction. Cause I don't really see a point of having a word for not having squishes. I've never had any and "aro" works fine for me. Maybe it would make more sense to have some term for aros who desire a qpr.
  13. Welcome! I'm a bit like you I think. I too feel aromanticism is so much bigger deal for me than sexuality.
  14. Check out this cool video extinction rebellion sweden made. The big protest was before corona.
  15. You can be in a romantic relationship even if you're aromantic. My advice is to focus firstly about what type of relationship you want (and of course the other persons preferences too) and then you can think about what labels you want to use. Don't think of aromanticism as some kinda prescription for how your relationship or life should be. It's there to help, not hinder.
  16. That's often a question I wonder about. I kinda hope that aromanticism is equally common no matter personality, cause that would make it feel more valid to me somehow. Although I suppose it could be that being aromantic in itself has a big impact on the development of ones personality. If you're different from others it might cause you to grow more introspective. And not having romantic feelings might cause you to embrace your logical side more.
  17. @Emerald Cheetah That's perfect background music IMO.
  18. It's finished! @boba what do you think of my reading aid for the manga If I was really ambitious I would have edited out the bubbles too, but oh well. @nonmerci I had the breakup scene from sex education in also but YT wouldn't allow me to upload that one.
  19. Amatodiversity I don't even know what amato is supposed to stand for though
  20. @nonmerci I'm laughing at the scene in sex education because the partner is played by Mikael Persbrandt, a very famous Swedish actor. The reason he's so famous here is because he sucks at English so he never went to do movies abroad unlike every other Swedish actor. He's most famous role is playing a very angry dirty mouthed cop in the 90's-00's
  21. The second option. I know RA is not that, but it's the closest term I could think of that describes it.
  22. Thanks @nonmerci I will check it out and hope it fits. Don't worry about finding videos. I prefer to find my own anyways because I want as high quality as possible to start from.
  23. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious what makes people identify more with their aromantic side than asexual and vice versa. Aside from being met with disrespect from some of the community like you were @Greeley I guess that if I went on Aven I would find several aro ace that states their asexual identity is more important to them. Personally I also don't really feel Ace. Even though I've not had sex for nearly a decade now and don't miss it. I think it's because I still feel sexual feelings sometimes. And I'm also positive to sex, I like seeing sex on tv and movies. So I suppose I feel very different from aces who find sex gross.
