  1. So if amatonormativity is the prejudice that all humans should be in a monogamous romantic relationship. Is there any opposite word to that? The closest I could come to fit would be relationship anarchy. It would be nice to have some sort of umbrella term for things that promotes other relationships as equally valid.
  2. Yeah I would have to rewrite the text in that case. But I realized that might instead get confusing to those used to manga I have another solution in mind though.
  3. Another example is to try joining some organization that continues work through Skype (or zoom teams etc) could be a specific cause or just a social one like a book club. That way you can be part of a discussion in a less intense way than one on one.
  4. Thanks @boba and @nonmerci I think a comic could work fine, but manga is a little more tricky since people might read the talk bubbles in the wrong order. Would it be ok if I flip the pages so the bubbles read from left to right? Or is that sacrilege? ? Thanks for reminding me of Little women. The recent movie have a scene which is very aro which I had forgotten about. I'm thinking about going a little bit wider in this second video and allow some stuff that is not necessarily from arospec characters. Mostly cause I really want to include part of the Guy love song from Scrubs, even if the characters are both allo it's just such an aro song. So even if Jean is not aro there might be some aro feeling scene. @treepod do you have any scenes from good omens? I saw you mention it in another post.
  5. Hard question! I'm a urban planner and I find it very interesting and meaningful but also very frustrating and draining. So it's a weird mix. My dream job would probably be to work as a kinda activist/lobbyist in urban planning so that I could work to change the things I find frustrating.
  6. I'm gonna put in one of the suggestions from @Emerald Cheetah of RWBY that I didn't include in the last one. Overall there seems to be a lot of headcannon (and even some official canon) in different animes but I've barely seen any so I don't know any scenes that would be good. Suggestions would be great. @nonmerci you had a lot of great suggestions last time. Anything new you've seen since then? @boba @Kate Bishop best arrowace @Finn @horriblegoose @Kadence @questdrivencollie I've seen you post about headcanons in that thread recently. Any suggestion of specific scenes or quotes?
  7. It's called Fake doctors, real friends. I just came across it today and listening to the first episode which they recorded in the end om March and it's a lot of fun. I thought I'd share it on this forum since I've seen people on here refer to JD and Turks friendship. I've seen every episode of Scrubs several times but I know very little about the actors. I didn't even know the name of the actor that plays Turk.
  8. I'm making another aromantic moments compilation video so if you have suggestions for specific scenes (or a book page) for your headcannons let me know and I'll add them.
  9. About half a year ago I made a compilation video consisting of scenes from movie and tv with aromantic themes. I would like to make another. If I get enough suggestion of scenes to include. I could possibly also include written medium, or possibly a song, I'm willing to experiment a bit with what to fit together. I hope you will help me with suggestions of specific scenes to add. Let me know the title (and episode number for tv show) plus the approximate time the scene is (a picture of the scene can also be helpful). Here's the first video ETA: It doesn't have to be English. I'll add some subtitles if needed.
  10. Sounds great! I would like to include it in my new aromantic moments compilation movie. Is there any scene you feel could work on its own if cut out from context? @aro_elise
  11. Listening to the audiobook non violent communication and took some time to pause and note down this passage I found interesting.

"They keep saying what they must do, has to do, should do, and they keep resisting doing it. Because we human beings were not made to be slaves. We were not meant to succumb to the dictates of "should" and "have to", whether they come from outside or inside of ourselves."

  12. Sounds like the perfect end to a love triangle ?
  13. Then it can never work. Because there's always that possibility. The ability to leave is in every relationship unless it's a forced one.
  14. A similar experience to this was what tipped me off I was aro. I dated this guy that was perfect on paper, and by the third date all my feelings for him had disappeared. I realized my problem to find someone was not about waiting for "the one"
  15. I like this perspective. I feel that way about sex. There was many years which I had this idea that one day I'd figure out my sexuality and finally be able to get that experience. But then I realized sex is just one experience among many.
  16. @Jedi @Skittles87 Two of my favorite books! The third book in the wayfarer series also have one viewpoint character who reads as aro allo.
  17. I think you should talk to your friend about this. you can use this chart as a template for discussion about what kind of relationship you want.
  18. Yeah I also see this trend and somewhat feel it myself. I've recently started to get involved more in activities and groups related to the transition movement. The work to shift from globalization to more focus on local comunities and self reliance. I think Corona virus will only increase interest in these things so you'll likely to find likeminded people for your way of living I think. Do you know what kind of career you want to pursue? I grew up in the suburbs of Stockholm but currently live in Nyköping, don't know if it constitues as a small town or not, we Swedes don't use that categorization. I like it overall but sometimes I feel lonely. Most people here are partnered and with kids and don't really give time or attention to much else. The transition community is interesting but I've felt my atention split between it and with other acitivities going on in Stockholm. I think my long term plan is to move back there but keep some of my link to Nyköping still.
  19. YMBA if you're listening to the Hamilton soundtrack and get annoyed with Eliza for wanting Alexander to take a vacation with her and the kids rather than write his financial plan.
  20. Good question! I unfortunately don't know of any, although I read mostly fiction myself. Hope you get some suggestions.
  21. Often when I want to listen to music I search for feel good playlists to find something upbeat. But it's a bit annoying how many of the songs are about romantic love. What recomendations do y'all have for feel good songs without romantic themes? I'll collect them and creat a no-romo feel good playlist
  22. Sounds interesting! I'll have to check it out. I know what you mean about wishing for something that's not really done. But I feel like now might be the time for it. We're living in interesting times after all. I keep thinking there must be some way to create synergy from all this different problems floating around: loneliness, gender inequality, the environment... That somehow there's a way of living that can solve them all.
  23. Before reading your comment I've never considered that Nicholas Flamel was a real historical person. I've never seen his name mentioned outside of Harry Potter
