  1. I'd say I'm somewhere between indifferent & repulsed in real, but probably leaning more toward repulsed. It just all seems so dumb to me. Not to say that people who really feel all that are dumb. It would just feel stupid for me because I don't actually feel any of that. It would be a lie. Plus, I really hate a lot of the stuff that tends to go along with it. Stuff like gender rolls & tradition. When it comes to fiction, it all depends on how it's handled & how much it's focused on. If it's a small part of the story, the characters have chemistry, & they really seem like they fell for each other on a deep level, then it can be nice. But that's rarely the case. And it really ticks me off when couples are shown having random arguments about stupid things. :p
  2. I was so confused as a teen & young adult. I had a general desire for sex, but the idea of sex with women sounded gross & backwards for me & the idea of sex with men sounded gross & backwards as well. (It took forever for me to realize that I was attracted to bio men who have a neutral/feminine personality.) I liked the idea of having some kind of partner, so long as we could live separately, skip the whole marriage thing, & NEVER have kids. But even knowing all that about what I liked & didn't like, a relationship still sounded awful because I so hated the idea of romance. Even now that I have all this sorted out, there's still a problem. Even if I were to meet a neutral/feminine dude that I had a lot in common with, who was aro & wanted the same lifestyle, then what? The idea of having sex casually is completely unappealing &, while the idea of sex within a committed relationship sounds nice, I don't want to put up with being in a committed relationship. Anyone dealing with confusion like this?
  3. I can't speak for anyone but me, as I don't know any other aros in real life, but I LOVE having plenty of time to myself. The dead center of what I I enjoy in life tends to center around living alone. I don't know that that relates to me being aro though.
  4. LOL Perfect! XD And yeah, I know. I just thought it was too epic not to mention.
  5. Those look awesome, robotcanary! I like to write. I do both fanfic as well as online written RPG. I also like cooking, learning, & studying interesting things. (Science, nature, history, etc.)
  6. I don't think that any of the things you listed are truly fully fixed. The brain, along with it's preferences can, theoretically, always change. These kinds of preferences are probably less likely to change though. As for falling in love, I think aro people kinda have their own version of that. Things might feel different for you, but I think you could still fall in love & get married as an aro person.
  7. OOOOOO!!! I've got it! Our animal mascot should be the sort of alien that Yoda is! Think about it. He's green & he's a Jedi. (Jedis don't do romance).
  8. As a kid I had a dream that a was made of paper. I was just a flat outline of myself, like a paper doll. Then mom wanted to cut my hair. She showed me how she planned to cut straight across to make sure my hair looked perfect. Me: "You can't do it like that, mom. If you cut straight across my hair, you would also be cutting off my head! See, I'm just a paper shape, so it's all one pice." Mom: "No, no, I'll be careful! I'll just cut straight across like this." *Motioning to show how she'll do it.* Me: "Nooo! Mom, that would still be cutting my head off! I'm made of paper!" Mom: "But I'll be careful!" Me: "It doesn't matter if you're careful! If you do it like that, you'd be cutting my head off! I'M MADE OF PAPER!" XD

    Marriage? Why?

I'm with you! LOL It makes no sense to me at all. It's more expensive, more difficult, & more time consuming. And why the heck would anyone want to have to ask the government's permission just to break up with someone? :p
  10. Praying mantises. They eat their mates afterward, so you know there weren't any romantic feelings XD
  11. If a kind person asks me an honest question relating to the topic, I sometimes explain that I'm aro, but that's really the only time that I have much reason to tell anyone. Most of the time, it just doesn't matter that much. I guess the 'coming out' thing isn't as big of a deal for aros as it is for other groups. Unless you're having to explain it to a partner, then I guess it would be kinda awkward. :p
  12. There are parts of romance that I understand & parts that I don't, but I think what makes a person aro, is the lack of interest in having that for yourself.
  13. I notice when a movie has a nice soundtrack, but I don't typically look it up or think that much about it. It's not like I actively dislike music. I think it's fine, it just doesn't do much for me.
  14. I can relate to a this. And yes, that does all sound like it would fall under the umbrella of being aro.
  15. Putting my own answers here cuz I forgot to put the in the original post because my brain is missing :p Me now: Probably couscous with summer squash. Pretzels / Everything bagel with cream cheese & goat cheese. The Avengers Don't watch much TV. Either 'The Time Machine' by H. G. Wells or the 'Ga'Hoole series' by Kathryn Lasky. Never listen to music. I have no explanation for this. Just never cared for it. Dogs, wolves, foxes, hedgehogs, primates, & dinosaurs. Battle games / Nerf war Writing fan-fic / Online written RPG That I am now the ruler of the world! 3:) Mwahaha! Me as a kid: Mac & cheese Pretzels Toy Story Depending on the year, either Darkwing Duck or the Jumanji cartoon series. I was too dyslexic to read much as a kid, Never really listened to music. Dogs, wolves, & dinosaurs Hide & seek or battle games Climbing trees That no one ever has to dress up or do boring stuff.
  16. I know this is random, but it's the first thing that popped into my head. Crush: You have to pretend a lot & behave in a certain way to make them like you & to live up to some kind of preconceived notion that society encourages. Squish: You don't pretend with them al all. You're your real, fun, crazy self with them. No matter how old you are, you're eight or nine when they're around.
  17. That strange feeling where you don't care for the idea of casual sex &, while sex within a committed relationship sounds nice, you don't want to be in a committed relationship... Can anyone relate to this? What strange/interesting things have you noticed/felt about being both aro & demisexual?
  18. I know this is an odd question &, just to be clear, I'm not asking if I'm gay or straight. I've heard all sorts of words to describe the feeling of attraction to a certain sex or certain gender identity, but I have no idea what it's called if you're only attracted to people who's body is one way & who's gender identity is another. I'm attracted to bio males who are either nonbinary or more on the feminine side. Does anyone know if there's a word for that?
  19. Ten questions with a twist. What's your favorite: 1: Meal 2: Snack/desert/junk food 3: Movie 4: TV show 5: Book/Series 6: Music/Song 7: Animal 8: Game 9: Hobby 10: Idea for a strange law that you'd like to pass. Here's the twist: I want to hear both your current answers, as well as how you would have answered when you were young. :)

    Enneagram

What's your Enneagram type? :) (To those who wish to complain about this, yes, I am fully aware that such tests can't pin down something so complex as the human brain. But they do still give insight into how a person thinks & I happen to find the mind fascinating.)
  21. You could still find a meaningful, loving relationship, even if you don't feel everything that the world tells you to feel. I guess it just depends of what you want from life. There are probably aro dating apps where you could find people who feel love in a similar way.
  22. Yeah, I think so. Just might feel a bit different if you're aro. We can still feel very deep forms of love, just not traditional romance.
  23. Perhaps you're grayromantic or demiromantic?
  24. I would define romantic attraction as a very specific type of love or a certain feeling (one that is notably different from just being close friends who have sex.) Often involving the cultural or religious constructs of your region.
