  1. I think being a villain in general wins a person lots of points. LOL But they have to have an interesting personality as well. He had both. ^_^ But my biggest squish will always be Loki. :3
  2. Who are your fictional character squishes? Or am I the only one who gets those? XD It can be any characters from TV, movies, or books that you've caught aro cooties for. What do you like about them?
  3. You sound like a great friend. So many people just get mad at us & don't try to understand. I'm sure it means a lot to him that you care so much. I think, for aros, relationships often look like a really close friendships with someone who you also sleep with. So I can see how things would still feel pretty much the same now that you've switched to being friends. It really sounds like you're doing everything right, though.
  4. How would you define a squish? How would you define a crush? How many kinds of crush equivalents would you say there are? Here's mine. Platonic crush/Friend crush: Intense excitement over someone because of them being your best friend. E.G. "SQUEE! They're the coolest, most fun person! Can't wait to talk to/hang out with them again!" Squish/Aro crush: Intense excitement over discovering someone that you have a lot in common with, who you might also be interested in. E.G. "SQUEE! They like super heroes too, are close to my age, & fall into the category that I have the capacity to feel sexual attraction for!" (I imagine that this one would be slightly different for those who are ace.) Regular crush: Intense excitement because of feeling romantic love for someone/the desire to hold hands, use pet names, cuddle, go on dates with them, or marry them. E.G. ...? No idea. Never felt this one. I think it involves flirting. How would you define the different kinds of crush equivalents?
  5. Yes, I can relate to that. It also helped when I saw a list of the types of attraction that a person might feel. Platonic, aesthetic, romantic, sensual, & sexual. Many of these are often bunched up into a single group, since many people feel them all together.
  6. I would pen a quick note to the teacher. Something like, "While I'm aromantic, (a recognized romantic orientation) & therefore don't experience romantic attraction, there are a few things that I find to be nice qualities in a friend. I've listed them here, as that's the closest I can come to giving an honest answer to the question that was posed in the assignment."
  7. What are your interests? What do you do for fun? What makes you happy?
  8. This is interesting. Perhaps it's because we're logical & love asking 'why', where as many others focus on emotion & try to line up with what society expects from them.
  9. I've been reading up on the different types of attraction that most people feel; Platonic attraction: The desire to be close to someone as a friend. Esthetic attraction: Finding a person's physical appearance to be pleasant. Romantic attraction: The desire to date, use pet names, fall in love, etc. with them. Sensual attraction: The desire to hold hands, kiss, cuddle, etc. with them. Sexual attraction: The desire to have sex with them. You never seem to hear people talk about being asensual or 'asen'. If anything, it seems like being Asen & being Aro are often rolled up into one thing. I mean, I myself am both, but I'm sure there are people who are just one or the other. What do you guys think? Are you both aro & asen, or just one? Have you heard the term 'asen' before?
  10. Okay, so I've heard a lot of people say that aros don't get crushes, but that got me thinking. I was under the impression that being aro mostly referred to the lack of romantic attraction (E.G. being in love & crap.) But isn't having a crush supposed to be quite different from being in love? I consider myself aro. I've never had romantic feelings or been in love, nor have I ever had any desire to. However, I have, on occasion, met or heard about a person & thought, "Hey, they're really interesting & we have some fun stuff in common." I was attracted to them felt kinda silly & exited at the thought of them. That sounds very much like what others seem to be describing when they speak of having a crush. Or does having a crush only count if you're specifically daydreaming about dating, giving flowers, using pet names, falling in love, & getting married? What do you guys think? How would you define a crush? Thoughts? Opinions? EDIT: Not sure if I'm explaining this very well. XD
  11. It's hard to know for sure, as there's a lot of diversity in the way each of us think & experience things. Can you imagine in your head what the sort of person you'd be attracted to would be like & describe how you would feel if you met them? That might help you to figure out if those feelings are there or not. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  12. Cootie requirement checklist. 1: Must be bio male who is someplace under the non binary umbrella. 2: Must be close to my age. 3: Must be nerdy & brilliant 4: Must be creative. 5: Must give me plenty of space. 6: Must love super heroes. 7: Preferably short & skinny with dark hair & dark eyes. (Extra points if they have a British accent & wear a long coat/cape.)
  13. I've heard of this & find it really interesting. I hope you won't mind me asking this, but what is it about plants/leaves that made you feel this connection to them & why do you relate them to your gender? Only if you feel like talking about it, of course.
  14. I tend to think that lack of romantic attraction is something to do with the arrangement of the brain. I really don't think it relates to your upbringing or experiences at all, at least it doesn't in my own case. I could understand the argument when it comes to sexual attraction or lack there of, though I think that that too would usually relate more to a person's natural tendencies.
  15. I don't care for holidays & I don't care for romance. If you ask me, Valentine's Day has just one purpose: Waiting till the day after & buying all the amazing chocolates that have been marked to half price! XD So I guess the 15th is my holiday & I celebrate the great love I have for junk food! Though I guess junk food could now be considered my ex, since I'm on a diet. :p
  16. Well, I'm a nerd, so I actually miss it sometimes. LOL
  17. I don't know that I even had a label other than just, "Not interested." If pressed for a 'reason' I'd just add something stupid like, "Because you have cooties." That was usually enough to make people think I was nuts & leave me alone XD
  18. I can probably count on one hand how many times I've seen someone & thought they were really cute. When I do, it's always short, skinny guys, with dark, wavy or curly hair, & dark eyes. Huge bonus points if they seem to be a nerd XD
