theres a bit of me that wonders if this will change if aromanticism grows as a community say someone is ace but not aro, as being ace becomes a more commonly known thing and the community becomes larger the odds of finding people who are aware and ok with the relationship that they want becomes better. there are a fair few major cities in my country where they could find a local group of people to talk to and work things out. i think there is a feeling in the aro community that the sort of relationships that people want are seemingly unavailable because no-one really knows what you are asking for and the community is just too small to find people to talk things through with.

Someone i know got a tattoo after a year living with his girlfriend, who he was convinced was the one for life. then within the next year they split up. Got another one when he got married to a different woman. Now divorced and in another relationship. I guess I admire the optimism but I'm not sure I understand this behaviour. There seem to be a lot of romantic gestures that just don't make sense to me.

@TheNothingFairy I hope you are aware of this but just to make it clear to you. This is a small site. If you point this site out to your Councillor and they look around here they could quite easily match you to your profile based on the fact they know you were looking to give aro resources to them. From that they could find any other online presence you have with that name. If you are ok with that fine but I think its fair to bring up to people that there is that consequence.

Finding the words to express how I thought about romance probably saved me from doing a lot of really dumb shit. I didn't go charging into relationships I wouldn't have been comfortable with.

I find I notice how much romance is around and romantic love seen as a good thing. One recent example, I was watching TV with my family and I noticed we had seen 5 adverts in a row that all used a happy family as a way to sell their product. Or I now notice how much music is based on love, which I think a lot of aros bring up.

Put your thoughts into writing. It will help you and might even be interesting to other people

Nice I wonder if the fact this is rare to talk about outside of a small group helped in a way. If almost everything the ai saw on the subject was very similar and made the same few points that might be easier to work with than a subject with a huge variety of opinion.
