When to hit the 'like' button?

  • to show that I appreciate the post
  • to show moral support (like under sad posts)
  • to show that I agree with them
  • "seen and understood" in case of official posts
  • instead of quoting an writing "lol" or a smiley in response
  • instead of quoting an writing "same" in response

EDIT: As the following posts where made on another thread that was similar to this, the topics have been merged.

 

I'm really confused as to whether to do it in borderline situations, e.g. if someone makes a post about a negative event but displays a positive solution or attitude to it that I agree with; or makes a long post containing something I disagree with as well as something I like.

I wish there was a neutral 'I've read it' button (it's sometimes useful for people to know that I've read their content, like mods' announcements, even when I don't want to express my attitude to it).

 

I need clearer guidelines on when to 'like' content on Arocalypse (without increasing my creep factor℠:ph34r:

I "like" something when i globally agree with it, or when I find the message interesting, nice or it makes me think. I don't think too much about it. I really appreciate the feature.

Oh, it's great to know that all these uses are socially acceptable and don't cause misunderstanding! ^_^
