  1. Did you ever insert any aro references in video game customization? Like you created an aro character, an aro empire, etc? I played Stellaris with a fanatic xenophile, egalitarian democratic empire called “Aromantic Alliance”. Empire emblem gray-green with an arrow-like symbol. For the species I took humans but renamed them to “Aros”. Home system / planet is Sol / Earth but renamed to “Aronia”.
  2. I strictly 100% buy vegan. But on some rare occasions I eat animal products because refusing it would cause a big drama…
  3. Alcohol itself doesn’t really have a taste, it just burns. There are thousands of different alcoholic drinks in the world and it depends on the non-alcohol content how they taste. You can’t compare drugs that easily. Tobacco in the form of the modern cigarette is … well you know, highly addictive. Alcohol OTOH is the oldest recreational drug, so humanity has some experiences with it… It’s a rather dull drug, though. Alcohol (ethanol) is an extremely simple molecule, that just causes a nonspecific effect of your brain going haywire. You also need an ENORMOUS amount of ethanol to feel an effect. We’re talking 20 grams here. That amount of nearly any other recreational drug – including caffeine – would kill you.
  4. While not being able to commit (romantically) is not identical with being aromantic, it’s closely related… both can be true. But no need to judge yourself so negatively / as “broken”. I also do not really DESIRE a follow-up, it’s just very convenient because it would be a truly EXTREME hassle to find and adjust to a new partner EVERY time … I’d go crazy…
  5. Yes, they are supposed to be separate. But honestly I find it too confusing… Gender itself is ??? Perhaps it is just symbolic. Or the emotions people attach to gender-terms like woman, man, enby, …? Gender expression is “expression” (dress, language, behavior, mannerisms, body language, …) related to gender. But what does “related” mean? It does not have to be stereotypical. And obviously not all personal expression is regarded as related to gender.
  6. Isn’t this again more a question about the meaning of words rather than a question of fact? I’d say the word “aromantic” should have some sort of meaning, even if it is vague and slippery. And “falling in love” is what we mean by “romantic,” so imho: No, aromantic persons cannot fall in love. If you fall in love you may still be arospec, though (e. g. greyromantic).
  7. Partner dancing is one of those mysteries to me… what’s it for? What you’re supposed to feel? I simply do not get it. I do not get it all!! I mean we all learn that it is deeply entangled with romo stuff. Also that it’s supposed to be a “launchpad” for romo stuff. But how often is this the case exactly? I mean allos sometimes must also just dance for fun without any romo motives. But more importantly why is there this connection to romance in the first place? You’re physically a bit close and you’re moving around and that is enough?!? That takes quite some imagination! Do allos regularly develop romantic feelings to e. g. their physiotherapists? I guess / hope not! I also do not understand the strong connection of dancing and eroticism; it’s a bit more understandable, but I think you must have a rather wild imagination, too… I’m always amazed about this convoluted romo culture which combines maximal complexity with maximal shallowness. We were forced to do partner dancing in school. I found this completely unnerving. /rant-end
  8. What’s that…? Never seen it, never heard of it. I read the description and it seems like the lowest of the low… very cheap UK cider in giant 3 l plastic bottles, high strength (~7% ABV). I only know the cider from Normandy (~3-4% ABV) and Hesse (~5% ABV) and those are not white. Is white cider even made from apples? ?
  9. I believe that true love exists. But it says a lot about romantic love that “true” has to be specifically emphasized. The general assumption must be that romantic love is “untrue” to some degree.
  10. In our fantastic aro-themed world-trip “Cautionary Tale of Romance” we start at the lovely French ville of Saint-Amour, where we try the local wine (you definitely need wine!), from which we fly directly to the U. S., reaching the back-country of Arkansas, the town of Romance, renowned for its taxidermy. And from there our next stop is again in Europe, Germany. A borough of Berlin called Wedding, once famous for its industrial production of light-bulbs (“Osramhöfe”) ? – representing genius ideas like “Maybe I don’t want to get married…”. We then take a long flight and reach Disappointment island, New Zealand, where we marvel at the many wonderful shipwrecks there. Finally our journey ends in Australia, Useless Loop at Shark Bay. Cause in romance there are many sharks you need to be aware of. And you’re stuck in a useless loop.
  11. indeed quite unremarkable… so what’s its partnership town? Saint-Amour, France?
  12. So here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7j1ln247j9c8m8e/aro_coat_of_arms.svg?dl=0 Btw., please support the newly formed C.A.L.V.A.D.O.S. (club against longstanding & very annoying discrimination of svgs) with a generous donation, thanks. (best viewed with Inkscape)
  13. I tried to draw my own coat of arms, but then I just like the funny griffin and aardvark so much, I thought I started from there... Now there's a vector version, an easily editable SVG file, to which anyone can add elements to (e.g. ice cream…). I made some minor adjustments (shading, claws/paws, arrows, pedestal).... I just need a place to upload the SVG file…!!!! ... ok well I admit it, I'm the unoriginal art thief from Mars, and should now ask for permission… so belatedly I ask for permission. ?
  14. Aside from the fact that aromantic aardvark is a very funny alliteration…
  15. When I hear sirens, I’m always remembered of the recurring Final Fantasy summon.
  16. Dark Sun Gwyndolin from Dark Souls. Perhaps – it’s debatable (could be trans). Still, Gwyndolin is associated with all kind of “gender-indeterminacy”. There’s a ring called “Reversal Ring” in Dark Souls 3 with the description: “A divine ring granted to the Darkmoon Gwyndolin in his youth. Causes males to perform female actions, and vice-versa. Gwyndolin was raised like a daughter through the aura of the moon, and was said to behave like a sullen brooding goddess.”
  17. yes, indeed, and very noticeable … how embarrassing! Never scrolled down there. True, ONCE at the age of 10. I’m not very impressed by those animals, though… TPBM visited an island larger than 100,000 km² (Greenland, New Guinea, Borneo , Madagascar, Baffin Island, Sumatra, Honshū, Victoria Island, Great Britain, Ellesmere Island, Sulawesi, South Island New Zealand, Java, North Island New Zealand, Luzon, Newfoundland, Cuba, Iceland).
  18. False. There is a gray theme? How? TPBM has an iPhone.
  19. I do not have somebody in my bed, since it is is 90 x 190 cm… I have another bed in my flat though. Sex still is possible in a 90 x 190 cm but it’s kind of funny…
  20. … you could also read Adepta Sororitas books for female characters. I guess since according to the lore, contrary to the Space Marines, the Sisters of Battle are still normal unmodified humans they could theoretically have romantic / sexual feelings. But I mean, they’re space nuns so nothing is going on there…
  21. Ever witnessed somebody asking if / suggesting that X and Y are romantically attracted / in a romantic relationship – and then the overdramatic, deeply offended, histrionic denials by X or Y? … why can’t they simply say “No I’m not”, or “Don’t ask such personal questions”.
  22. a sizeable minority didn’t get the memo about the “default assumption”… those who get offended by very innocent SFW compliments…

    Marriage? Why?

Romance (you know those people who act like they won the state lottery just because they’re getting married…) Insecurity (“make sure he/she never leaves me”) Religion Legal benefits 4. seems to be a very, very important motivation. At least in Europe. In France there’s an alternative called PACS, which provides certain legal benefits but does not go the whole hog. It’s nearly 50:50 marriage:PACS there… I guess the French are less romantic than I assumed…
  24. Why isn’t there a band called “My Chemical Aromance”… it would only be fair.
