  1. Never heard of them. Sounds very interesting, must try it out.😄 I'm not a giant fan of Shakira, but you have to admit she's great in her genre. I like all her songs with Portuguese lyrics. If I just don't watch the music video, I can pretend they're not about romantic love. Her English lyrics OTOH... yeah no... I mean even for romantic standards they're quite cringe. The problem is that I learned Latin. And so sometimes I vaguely understand a bit of Portuguese and the illusion that a song like "La Tortura" is really about aromanticism is shattered... 😀 Oh regarding Latin lyrics, sorry for the off-topic stuff: but I'm always super-excited if Latin lyrics appear in video games and anime. I mean, I was put through years and years of misery learning this language. By very angry Latin teachers (the centurion from Monty Python "Romanes eunt domus" comes pretty close). So if I encounter Latin in 21st century media I'm very happy and can say to myself: It was not all in vain! OK, this is the opposite: I enjoy listening to such music because I understand it.

A very fine work of jewelry, which the potato camera sadly doesn't do justice... 😉
  3. Wonder if anyone here really tried that. I mean, that's the whole point of this game, right? Food we actually tried... otherwise we might end up with: Fruit Bat Soup? Yum! Cockatrice egg omelet? Yum! Roasted unicorn? Does not exist but still yum! Spicy aardvark stew? Ewww. You monster!! Yum!!! Another very red one: Rødgrød?
  4. Passenger fined over undeclared McMuffins in luggage 1 August 2022 Pork and beef products sniffed out by Darwin’s new detector dog Zinta Passenger arrived at Darwin airport with a range of undeclared risk products The passenger was issued a $2664 infringement notice Darwin’s new biosecurity detector dog Zinta has uncovered undeclared meat on a passenger arriving from Indonesia. Detector dog Zinta responded to a passenger’s backpack and after further inspection it was found they were carrying a variety of risk items including two egg and beef sausage McMuffins from McDonalds in Bali and a ham croissant. The seized meat products will be tested for foot and mouth disease (FMD) before they are destroyed. Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Murray Watt said Zinta sniffed out the significant biosecurity breach last week and the returning passenger has been issued with a $2664 infringement notice. “This will be the most expensive Maccas meal this passenger ever has, this fine is twice the cost of an airfare to Bali, but I have no sympathy for people who choose to disobey Australia’s strict biosecurity measures, and recent detections show you will be caught,” Minister Watt said. “Australia is FMD-free, and we want it to stay that way. “Zinta was placed at Darwin Airport as part of the Albanese Government’s tough new biosecurity defences, and it’s excellent to see she is already contributing to keeping the country safe. “Biosecurity is no joke—it helps protect jobs, our farms, food and supports the economy. Passengers who choose to travel need to make sure they are fulfilling the conditions to enter Australia, by following all biosecurity measures.” The passenger was issued a 12-unit infringement notice for failing to declare potential high biosecurity risk items and providing a false and misleading document. Last month the Albanese Government announced a new $14 million biosecurity package to deliver more frontline defences in mail centres and airports. The government has also rolled out biosecurity dogs at Darwin and Cairns airports, sanitation foot mats at all international airports, along with support on the ground for Indonesia and neighbouring countries. I'm always amused how proud 🇦🇺 politicians are of their basket case "let's just isolate from the whole world" laws... just like with Covid.
  5. Anyway... Poisonous bite leads German police to farm with 110 snakes "BERLIN (AP) — Police in Germany said Sunday they discovered more than 110 dangerous snakes on a farm after a woman who lived there sought medical treatment for a poisonous bite. The 35-year-old woman drove to a hospital in Salzgitter, near Hannover, early Sunday and told doctors there that one of her rattlesnakes bit her finger. While the woman’s condition deteriorated and authorities hastily ordered an antidote from a specialist institute in Hamburg, police visited the farm in central Germany and found dozens of snakes. In a statement, police said specialists determined the snake collection included both constrictors and poisonous varieties, which weren’t housed in appropriate terrariums. The reptiles were all impounded." That last sentence... Anyway, I just love the fact that she managed to collect a whopping 110 deadly snakes, which she let freely roam on her farm, before she was bitten. Uh-oh. Nobody saw that coming...
  6. Poor eels 😞. Contrary to humans they did not actively choose to take cocaine. And many recreational drugs that have an at least superficially pleasurable effect on humans, have quite a bad effect on animals. IMHO the eels should have the same right for a safe and clean habitat as any other Londoner! Especially since they belong to the Thames like the Tower Bridge! 🌊🐟🌊 I also live next to one of Europe's largest rivers. Eels have returned here. And the pollution has declined so much that they're even "tasty" again... So what happened? Fishing was restarted. Oh dear, why just can't humans leave the eels alone for once.
  7. "Handled the situation". A nice way to describe that he committed mass murder. IMHO a good explanation for Padmé's very relaxed reaction "to be angry is to be human" would've been warranted.
  8. The romantic subplot in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was so extremely bad, I literally can't remember it - except that it involved Rey and Ben. It is a repressed memory. 😉
  9. For a second I took this literally (I mean we had fried gator tail here), but I decided to look it up. Eww Just the looks of it... and the calories... I imagine that this dish was for members of the British underclass, who slogged away 14 hours a day in the steel mills of yore. But if you eat that regularly nowadays and work in a call center.. well... (I admit it, I have no idea, just my prejudices... sorry, sorry) Red Borscht?

    Nothing serious

Caretaker Matrix NO-ROMO-42 [Machine Intelligence to protect aromantics] replies: "Request denied. My organic masters have long lost any interest in romance and/or romantic relationships."
  11. wow, this is great 💚💚💚 didn't even know it existed
  12. Very interesting topic, gonna read 'em all. Thanks to those who submitted!
  13. I love cyberpunk settings. I love cats. I must try this.
  14. I came across this anime just recently. For some reason I was completely oblivious to it. I also love the art style, characters and story. Especially the art style 💚 there really is nothing like it. The technical quality of the animations OTOH is uh-oh... bad. Every corner that could be cut was (budget constraints?). So I stopped watching. Maybe I give it another try.
  15. It's the fear that this is going to be permanent. He hopes that frankness and laughter will break through (totally assumed) "self-denial". Of course this is completely inappropriate and counterproductive to say to an aro (and also to an alloromantic person who struggles to find a partner).
  16. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
  17. Since there's no obvious causal chain that starts with a squish on a child and ends with a serious crime, it's in my opinion not morally wrong. Of course, talking about such a squish is a very bad idea. It would be interpreted as sublimated pedophilia. It's not rare for parents to also abuse their power. Many at least fill their children's heads with nonsense, which can cause a lot of pain later on. No one cares. A close relationship where an adult acts like a "normal friend" of a minor, and that's it, is not ideal, but... but ... is it not worlds apart from a sexual relationship with a minor!?
  18. So you're a Windows executable? 😉

  19. I wonder: how can a squish EVER be morally wrong?

  21. So did you finish it? I unlocked all the endings for this game: Age of Fracture Age of the Duskborn Age of Order Blessing of Despair Age of the Stars Age of Frenzy IMHO the Age of Stars ending is my favorite. Freedom from the outer gods! Ranni: "Well then. Shall we? My fair consort, eternal." Strangely, this scene did not feel romantic at all. I mean Ranni is a "witch", but as we know, she's just godlike. She doesn't care for gender. And when she said this to my female character, it felt more amicable and protective.
