omitef Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I came across this video awhile ago and think it's pretty accurate in pointing out major problems and toxic beliefs when it comes to both romantic, and even platonic love. I feel like society would embrace non-romantic forms of love much more, if it weren't for romanticism, which promotes the false idea that romantic love is perfect and can solve everything in your life. 10 2 Quote
Quinoa Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 This was a really interesting video! I think if all those things weren't tied together in most people's minds, the world would be a whole lot more aro-friendly. 3 Quote
Saber_Wing Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I didn't even realize how true this is until I watched it just now. If it weren't for romanticism, it might not be so difficult to explain who we are as aromantics, and asexuals. 2 Quote
SapphireSoul Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 That actually makes a lot of sense... More than I thought it would. I think that approaching love as something more practical than emotional would solve a lot of problems, especially the point that your SO cannot and will not fulfill all the roles that you hope they will. 1 Quote
Holmbo Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 I really agree with this. I might show this video to one of my romantic friends to see what she feels about it. Quote
Untamed Heart Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I thought it made a lot of sense, too. Quote
mewix Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 (Bumps old thread..) I watched this video I agree with a lot, but not all of it. But things like no one is perfect, different people for different things etc are important I think. Quote
Holmbo Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 Very old thread. I see I've commented here before but I don't remember the video at all anymore? 1 1 Quote
