omitef
I came across this video awhile ago and think it's pretty accurate in pointing out major problems and toxic beliefs when it comes to both romantic, and even platonic love. I feel like society would embrace non-romantic forms of love much more, if it weren't for romanticism, which promotes the false idea that romantic love is perfect and can solve everything in your life. 10
Quinoa
This was a really interesting video! I think if all those things weren't tied together in most people's minds, the world would be a whole lot more aro-friendly.
Saber_Wing
I didn't even realize how true this is until I watched it just now. If it weren't for romanticism, it might not be so difficult to explain who we are as aromantics, and asexuals.
SapphireSoul
That actually makes a lot of sense... More than I thought it would. I think that approaching love as something more practical than emotional would solve a lot of problems, especially the point that your SO cannot and will not fulfill all the roles that you hope they will.
Holmbo
I really agree with this. I might show this video to one of my romantic friends to see what she feels about it.
Untamed Heart
I thought it made a lot of sense, too.
mewix
(Bumps old thread..) I watched this video I agree with a lot, but not all of it. But things like no one is perfect, different people for different things etc are important I think.
Holmbo
Very old thread. I see I've commented here before but I don't remember the video at all anymore? 1
