  1. I dunno, I guess Jughead? Luffy from One Piece? It’s hard for me to exactly pick a “favorite” when there’s so few anyway (headcanons are nice and all, but there’s extremely few characters who can be definitively called canonically aro). I haven’t even read One Piece.

Plus there really aren’t allo aro characters out there, so it’s hard for me personally to actually feel represented by most aro characters… I heard there’s one in like, some book I’ve never read, and one in Loveless who doesn’t get treated very well. I’d like to see more characters like me someday, but I don’t have very high hopes for that happening any time soon.

In the end, I guess I’ll have to go with Jughead, since he’s the most enjoyable and relatable canon aro to me. Unless Data from Star Trek is canon? I can’t remember if he is or not. Gwen’s alright too, but I like Jughead better.

  2. I think it would be beneficial for you to try to remember that your identity exists for you. Not for anyone else. It's not out of the question that it will change someday, and if it does, that's ok. If it doesn't? That's also ok, and it's 100% your right to use whatever terminology is most helpful to you right now. Your feelings and experiences don't exist to prove some sort of point- You're here because you're here, and that's all. At the end of the day, people are always going to try to project their own expectations onto you; I mean, there's people who would say that because I'm latina, I must be very romantic (I'm not) or because I'm latina I must be bisexual (I am), but at the end of the day, neither of these things have any influence over my identity and they don't matter.

You have to let yourself exist for yourself, and stop worrying about what other people think, because if you live your life trying to be one thing or another just to prove other people wrong you're going to end up constraining yourself to the point of being miserable. Just be you. And if that means being aro, that's awesome, but I see you're clinging so hard to this that you're second-guessing yourself. That's not a healthy way to think about yourself. Just relax, and let yourself feel whatever you feel or don't feel without worrying about it.

thank you! having ressources on the topic would definitely help

In that case definitely check out TAAAP, AUREA, and uh, I assume AVEN? I'm not ace myself so I don't know as much about the ace side of things, but I would assume they've got something. You can always just google like, "aspec 101" or "asexuality guide" or something like that too. Good luck!

  4. Why don't you want to explain it? It sounds like they'd be accepting. If you'd rather not give the whole speech, you could always just send them some resources on the subject. There's plenty around online. I think TAAAP might have a printable "aspec 101" pamphlet? Unless that was something made just for events and not on the website, idk. But anyway, there's stuff you can use to help teach them the terminology and such.

I should've added those earlier generations. Interesting that they still work, pretty high quality.

I tend to throw away or donate such old hardware... but that's just me, cause clutter.

Also, Playstation 2 must have had one of those ancient ports like SCART. Do you need an adapter for it?

No, I'm pretty sure it just uses a regular AV multi output. The PS2 isn't really too old- HD TVs were already a thing when it came out (even if we wouldn't consider them all that "HD" by modern standards). Plus my family's not exactly rich, so we don't have one of those fancy new "only has two ports and built-in Bluetooth for connecting to your Apple Wiretap" type TVs, just a pretty typical cheap widescreen from like 2010 or something. I'm pretty sure we still have the cables the PS2 originally came with.

Isn't denim one of the most popular fabrics in the world? 🙃 How can it be punk-inspired?

Or do you just mean the typical stuff like ripped or acid-washed jeans, with lots of patches?

    Stuff like that, yeah.

There's actually a big reason why denim is popular in the punk scene; Punk rock has a long history with the working class, and originally the stage costumes were just the musician's work clothes- Rips and stains and all, rebelling against the idea that someone needs to have clean, undamaged clothes in order to be acceptable in public. Denim is also, for much the same reasons as it's popular with physical laborers, great for providing a level of protection in a fight. As the punk scene grew and DIY art and fashion became a big part of it, people started adding things like studs and spikes, painted or bleached details, and patches or pins representing their favorite bands or political statements. Hardworking denim has stayed a staple of punk fashion.

(In the 90s and 2000s when it became trendy to imitate a punk or grunge look, pre-ripped and pre-bleached denim became pretty common, but most punks find it distasteful due to its soullessness- These clothes seek to imitate the damaged clothes of the working class without having any actual wear and tear, or any of the emotion and artistic thought put into DIY fashion.)

So basically while denim itself isn't exclusive to punk, it is a huge staple of punk fashion, so someone who admires punk fashion might like denim clothes.

It’s actually surprisingly beautiful for its name. The Owl House actually was INCREDIBLY popular but due to other countries being a little… unaccepting of the brand, and that it sorta overshot its target audience age by like 1-2 years. But trust me the show was GLORIOUS, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

Oh I mean I've heard it's a good show, I'm not into it myself but I have nothing against it. I'm just baffled they let them say "demon realm" on Disney Channel. They never would've let Alex Hirsch do that lmao

I’d kill to live in the demon realm from the owl house. People can actually be free to be themselves there. They can use magic, and overall are rather peaceful in comparison to our world. Besides, it’s a beautiful place in its own incredibly strange way, but I’d BEG to get to live there.

Wait, the demon realm? Ain't that show a Disney Channel thing? They let them say "demon realm" on Disney channel???

  9. I'd like to live in the Pokemon world... Free healthcare, lil guys to be your bestie, a society that's so communal and trustworthy that kids can wander off on their own and there's always someone to help them, and the only people trying to destroy the environment are so weak their plans can be thwarted by an 11yo and their very powerful cat. Granted, the transportation infrastructure is usually a nightmare for some reason, but everything else? Man sign me up

  10. I think you should politely bring it up with them. I mean, even outside the context of aromanticism, third wheeling someone is just kind of a douchey thing to do. It’s not that they shouldn’t ever show affection to each other when around other people, or whatever, but it’s important for any couple to learn how to do so in a way that doesn’t make other people feel ignored. (Granted, there’s also some couples who seem to do it on purpose in order to intentionally flaunt their relationship status… Those couples usually don’t last very long, ironically lol)

Hey this is the kind of stuff that makes me feel isolated and alone in aro spaces actually!!!

I explored polyamory when I was figuring out my queer identity and like I said, I don't personally find it freeing or any less inherently amanormative than monogamy.

so quite frankly It does feel like you're trying to force me to identify with or relate to your expierences as a polyamorous person in a way that makes me wonder if I can be accepted here as an aromantic person who isn't opposed to monogamy and would want monogamy if I decided to enter a QPR.

I hope people will respect my boundaries and personal identity and not try to explain polyamory to me further.

I know what it is, I'm glad it's good for people and people who are helped hy it have access to the concept and a community.

Polyamory is not and will never be for me, just like monogamy will never be for some other people.

I didn't say you had to be polyamorous, and I'm sorry I made you feel that way. I support you fully and I hope you can do whatever makes you most comfortable. I just wanted to make sure you understood, since aro polyamory is not the same as allo polyamory, but I suppose I misunderstood your understanding. I apologize for making you uncomfortable, let me know if there's something I can do better.

  12. Nice to meet you. For what it’s worth, being polyam doesn’t necessarily mean dating; I’m aro and polyam and I don’t date anyone. For me, I consider myself polyamorous because as a non-partnering aro, I already exist outside the structure of monogamy and have no reason to limit my activities to one person at a time.
Of course, I’m not saying you have to be polyamorous. I’m just clarifying because I think you might be misunderstanding a little bit, which is fair.

  13. Why do you want to write romance? I mean that as a genuine question. Like, is there a reason it needs to be there? If it "feels awkward and out of place", then why have you put it in place at all? You're not obligated to write romance if you don't want to. I mean if you want to that's one thing, but it kind of sounds like you don't actually want to. Like you said, you can do the research and look at it objectively, but you don't seem to have the will to actually write it, meaning there's something about it you don't enjoy. You should address why you're doing it at all before worrying about how.

Never heard of them before. I might check out a lot of the musicians people keep talking about but tbh there’s just so many of them. 😅

    Though that does sound interesting.

Well Eurobeat specifically isn’t an artist, it’s a musical genre. But as far as the artists I mentioned, I do highly recommend the Clash, especially if you have any interest in history. My favorite songs of theirs are Know Your Rights, London Calling, Spanish Bombs, and Lost in the Supermarket.

  15. Depends. If I'm looking for nostalgia, usually either the Clash (particularly anything off Combat Rock) or Fleetwood Mac. If I'm looking to get cheered up, eurobeat. If I'm looking to go to sleep, usually something by Gojira or Kaoru Akimoto.
