My friend had to cancel our dinner and TV night because she is sick and now I feel so bored! I don't want to be home but I don't have anywhere else I want to be either. If it wasn't for the stupid darkness I'd take a long walk somewhere. I can still walk in darkness, I'm not afraid, but I just don't like it.

I want to watch heartstopper but I don't have Netflix currently. It feels disrespectful to pirate it, but also it feels silly to resubscribe to Netflix when I already have several shows to be watched on my current subscription apple tv. #norealproblems 😄

I'm rereading the midnight bargain. It's such a great book. And it has an aro character in it.

I just bought a rat cage online.
I've been wanting to get rats for a really long time but never thought it was a good time for it. Since I've moved in to my new apartment I've had no practical reason not to but for some reason I still hesitated. I even started to think maybe I shouldn't even get them. But deep down I know I do want them so I decided there's no reason to delay. Let me know if anyone wants future pictures. It will be a while though, I'm gonna fix up the cage and then find a breeder to reserve them from.

I found this very interesting:
"Dreams about lost things and other minor disasters may give us some kind of competitive advantage. A study in Consciousness and cognition in 2014 looked at students about to take a high-stakes exam. The students who had the most intense stress dreams the night before the exam — often involving lost things, lateness, or, in one memorable case, being handed a slice of bread instead of the exam paper — ended up getting higher grades. The researchers told the Guardian they believe this is something called threat simulation theory, in which brains rehearse all the things that can go wrong to help us cope when they do. So when you dream of forgetting your pen and your pants on the day of an important exam, your brain's gearing up to help you deal with something stressful. "
Some consolation if we're having stress dreams

Eh, well some are a bit personal and may not be the best for sharing on the public forums. But in terms of one that I can share, I'd say just hugging, snuggling, and cuddling are very common themes.
Ah, okay. It reminds me of the Icelandic word, "loghólmi" it also means "log islet" (it's pronounced a bit differently than what many would expect). For Stockolm it is spelt Stokkhólmi. Thanks for sharing that tidbit, I'd like to learn Swedish, I can get some words with the knowledge of Icelandic, but certainly not everything.
Aren't you scared of telling people online where you're from (like the city)? Maybe that's just me lol or I very much like privacy laws and restrictions :)

I don't think that A man called Otto should be allowed to be played at Swedish movie theaters

Yes it feels treasonous somehow. There's very little Swedish media that is known abroad so a man called Ove is one of the few potentials of having foreigners ever see a Swedish movie. If there's an American remake many readers are probably more likely just to see that one. So I don't think we should support it financially.
Now if the adaptation was flawed I could be up for a remake. For example with The girl with the dragon tattoo I thought the Swedish version was a bit lacking so I enjoyed the remake. But with a man called Ove it's a great adaptation. I suppose the cat doesn't look scrawny enough but from the poster that seems to not have been remedied 😄

My friend is feeling bad that her boyfriend is not well and doesn't want to get help. He's saying it's just part of his personality. I don't think he's being reasonable at all, even things that are part of ones personality can be addressed in ways that help you cope with them.

One benefit with working from home is you can take very personal breaks. ?

Work from home club member here, personal breaks are supa! I eat a big sub, and watch a classic tv show like the original batman, or some other quick fun lunch show.
Try eating a sub and watching a 25 min tv show, its very refreshing... What do you do for your personal breaks @Holmbo?

@Ikarus
hehe in this case it was very personal. But other times I usually just maybe listen for a short time to a podcast while fixing a cup of tea.

The proud swedish traditions of burning the straw goat is once again upheld.
-
For those who enjoy teen boy romance I recommend Young Royals on Netflix. And I'm not just saying that cause it's Swedish ?

Living alone for the first time in many years. I started to think "now I can play loud music in the morning if I want" but then I remembered I still live in an apartment

Listening to the audiobook non violent communication and took some time to pause and note down this passage I found interesting.
"They keep saying what they must do, has to do, should do, and they keep resisting doing it. Because we human beings were not made to be slaves. We were not meant to succumb to the dictates of "should" and "have to", whether they come from outside or inside of ourselves."

Just saw the new adaptation of little women. It's a beautiful movie but I couldn't help being a little sad thinking about Louisa May Alcott. She would have been much happier had she been alive today I think.
-
I liked it too. There's a particular scene I found unexpectedly relatable. Louisa/Jo is saying to her mother that she really doesn't want to compromise her freedom by loving a partner in the way her society forces her to; but at the same time, she is "so lonely". And I was like, huh, that's not so different from the modern quandry that amatonormativity places on aros
-
Well, if I remember, Jo was meant to be aro (well, not use this word of course, but to stay single), but the readers pressure her publisher to get her a romantic partner. And really, the whole story with Laurie is just Jo being romancezoned by her best friend...
There are romance Louisia Alcott was lesbian because she never get married. But... who knows? She seems to understand pretty well aromantic struggles. And it must have been very hard in her time.

I've just reread The long way to a small angry planet by Becky Chambers and I'm struck again by how great that book is. I can't believe I didn't read it for years cause I was told it was just a bunch of short stories. It's obligatory read for all queer scifi fans.
Also, I was surprised to find Ashby my favorite character upon reread.

So close yet so far for Sweden ?
