  1. If I eat fried potatoes too often, I'll die young of an ulcer. If I eat boiled ones too often, I'll die of boredom. If I mix the cooking methods, I'll have a long boring life ended by an ulcer. Is there an escape?

I hate peeling them, though. Thank goodness, I'm not in the military, where it's a common penalty (and has to be done fast).

I used to cook them this way a lot, but it takes too much time and I'm afraid of consuming too much butter. Sigh.

  3. It is currently 3degrees Celsius INSIDE the house, and I am eating icecream

I'd experience fewer weather swings if I moved closer to the sea, which I think I can afford, but it would be a very bold move and I'm being held back by the shadows of my control freak relatives :(

I can make it so that my 2nd apartment is in a seaside village, though, when I'm sure that I'll never need to commute to work, and then I'll rent the 1st (city) one out.

ATTC, I thought you were on the South Island. On the North one, setting heating up is impractical indeed.

It's been close to +30 here for a week or two, dammit :( The joys of continental climate.

I've never had a cooler, though. I'm probably not going to buy anything more complex than a fan even after I move.

Even if one needs to turn the heat on a bit for only 3 months a year, it's well worth setting up..

Of course central heating is uberstandard where I am because the temperature goes down to -20 in winter, but I thought that it must be standard in NZ too because living at +7 is uncomfortable too.

Ouch :hugs: Is your central heating always this bad, or is it just temporarily broken?

  9. So, if you include arcade posts, I have just reached a grand total of 1000 posts (exactly at the time of writing). I think all this says about me is that I spend way too much time in arcade. Exactly 82.6% of my posts (at time of writing) don't contribute to post count.

  10. Well, the most stressful week of the year is overwith for me. Finally in SC away from the rat race of NJ..

  11. I'm in need of more skype buddies.

Look for them on AVEN too - folks don't bite there (especially if you avoid the romanticism topic).

I normally don't Skype / IM / chat with AVENites and arocalyptists as I can't compose politically correct sentences fast enough.

(and haven't opened Skype for ages, actually).

  12. I just really want to be in space right now.

  13. Okay, I'm not coming back for a while, even though my school just ended today. I have a very long vacation, but I will have some free time in August I believe.

So this status update may be slightly venty so if you don't care to read it, don't bother. I just kind of want to write this down. O_O And it doesn't really have anything to do with being aro either...

Well, this was the last day of middle school for me, and the last day I'm ever going to have class with one of my best friends. I was hoping I'd be able to see her over the summer, but I have a giant vacation and she's preparing for tennis and stuff, along with random vacations and other things that prevent me from hanging out with her. And when we finally go back to school, I have a feeling she's going to make new friends and forget about me, which I really don't want to happen. Especially since I don't really have many close friends. She is also probably going to be really busy in high school, since she got into a fancy schmancy special one and is going to be working on art and stuff (she's an amazing artist). I just kind of feel like today was the last time I'm going to see her in a long time and maybe ever if she forgets I exist. And it just makes me really depressed IDK.

Anyway, sorry for the awkward venting. I'll be back in August. See you guys then.

  14. Do we need a squish thread? I just think it's funny since crushes are less likely to be here xD

The need for a separate thread for squishes of members on each other has already been discussed too http://www.arocalypse.com/forums/topic/30-capslockia/?do=findComment&comment=8110

  16. Time to switch up tradition. Classical in the daylight, punk rock at night time. I won't regret it but my neighbors might.

  17. I just took a shower in a thunderstorm, is that safe?

It's great to know that Arocalypse has branched out into the afterworld! :aropride:

(however, I'd rather Louis stay in our world for as long as possible)

Regarding the quantitative assessment of the risk of death caused by a single shower during a thunderstorm: it's 16 in 100 mln, about as big as if one drove 15 miles.

  18. In a week, I will no longer live in NJ...(you oppressively high taxes, high cost of living, very stressed out culture, type of state...especially the part by NYC..South Jersey is nicer anyway)

Mythbusters have researched the subject and found out that the warning against taking a shower at home during a thunderstorm is plausible.

It depends on the temperature of the rain water, but anyway, if you do it undressed in an inhabited area, there's a risk of voyeurism.

  21. I might be about to be MIA again (or not, I have no good way of knowing). Thought I would put this here so people who would want to know can have some prior notice.

  22. Remind me to never make a thread that isn't in the arcade

    1. paporomantic

      paporomantic

Anyway, if you make threads that aren't related to LGBT directly (e.g. are about aromanticism in general), then they're unlikely to get heated. Starting an LGBT-related thread as an ace is like opening a can of worms :D

  23. I completely failed that exam ;_; and it was really important too... Everyone else did bad too so let's hope low grade boundaries.

A couple of times in history classes at different high schools, the tasks where I did abnormally poorly were 'lost' and not graded at all, either because everyone else did poorly or because the teachers didn't want to spoil my track record.

Far not all professors are nearly as cruel as we expect them to be.
