  1. Custer wasn't the only white person committing genocide against Native People back then; but he didn't get away with it as most of them did. While the killing of Custer was self-defense, his fellow racists made him into a martyr & used his death as an excuse to commit more hate crimes against us. It's just as dishonest as using a fictional character like Jesus as an example.
  2. My previous username (2 Spirit Cherokee Princess) seemed to confuse some people, so I'm changing it.

  3. They/them is meant to be able to apply to anyone. Use it if you like.
  4. Arocalypse mascots have changed.
  5. I've had dreams about someone annoying me with their interest, yes.

  7. Just as dinosaurs continue on as birds, Trilobites live today as horseshoe crabs. They haven't changed much in the last 445 million years.
  8. Just as Saturnalia was a major Solstice celebration for southern Europe, so was Yuletide in the north. The word Yule was the name of the time period now divided into December & January. It involved bringing into your home: ivy, holly, mistletoe & a tree to be decorated in honor of Odin. Odin gained knowledge & transcended death after being hung from a tree - instead of a cross. A Yule log was burned in honor of Thor. You can't cut a tree down for this; you have to find a fallen log that will burn for days. Over the Yule log's fire is cooked a boar (in honor of Freyr) for the community to feast upon.
  9. Saturnalia was originally a feast of dedication in the Temple of Saturn in His guise as the God of crops & sowing. The event that took place on December 17th after all the fall planting had been done, although it soon extended for a whole week despite the attempts of various authorities to restrict it. The ropes that bound the feet of Saturn's statue were untied on that day, a symbolic act accompanied by sacrifices that liberated the God, who later became personified as Old Father Time - the bent, robed figure whose sickle "chopped down" the harvest of passing hours. The Saturnalia was a time for the relaxation of the usual rules. Informal clothing replaced the toga, gambling was legal, & feasting was the norm. Slaves were (temporarily) free, & were even served a banquet by their masters. Gifts were exchanged including combs, writing tablets, perfumes, sausages, books, parrots & candles.
  10. Europeans had their gift ceremonies when it was cold & so did Native Americans. The Winter Solstice was often a time when a chief would declare a potlatch giveaway.
  11. Germany Arrests 25 People from Far-Right Group for Plotting to Overthrow Gov’t HEADLINEDEC 07, 2022 In international news, German law enforcement arrested 25 people earlier today suspected of plotting to overthrow the government. The suspects are said to belong to a far-right domestic terror group called “Reich Citizens” that believes Germany is controlled by a “deep state.” Plans included attacking the Reichstag, Germany’s parliament building.
