  1. Can someone please tell me why the aro community nowadays thinks it's so 'weird' to have crushes on celebrities / fictional characters when I've met just as many aros who have admitted to crushing on celebrities / fictional people than allos??

Idk, it's just I see posts with decent views / likes / upvotes / whatever that argue that it's 'weird' because either the person or character is conventionally unattractive, or because being attracted to strangers is 'weird'. Like ofc Ik I'm never going to get with this famous person, THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF HAVING A CELEB CRUSH, KNOWING YOU'LL NEVER BE WITH THEM YET FANTASISING ABOUT THEM ANYHOW. And yet this is the same community that claims to support aegos and fictos, so idk if that's really the truth.

Although I know I don't get crushes on fictional characters, I do sometimes fantasize having relationships with them because of the unattainability; though, sometimes my fantasizations don't really last long. I do hate it when people think that it's "weird" for others to have actual crushes on fictional characters (there are queer people who say it's "weird" but many times it's been non-queer people who have said that around me about queer people having crushes on characters, but then the same people that think it's "bad" can call their favorite character hot???). It isn't weird, and putting complex attractions and orientations aside, to me I feel like if someone really cares for a fictional character in that way that only shows how well that character was written, or, at the bare minimum it shows how well that character has touched at least one person's heart. I support fictos and aegos, not only because I do have things in common with those identities, but also simply because they exist and deserve respect anyway.

(also quick question how do you put up single status updates? I haven't been able to figure out how to post those at all ^^')

It has 'cringe culture' energy to me, like people fantasise about relationships all the time -- so why can't aros?? "you loving this character just makes you mischaracterise them!" okay?? womp womp then??
