I have found that giving people who are likely to kiss me a hug as soon as I first see them often causes them to take that as the greeting and not kiss me. Just thought I'd mention that in case it helps you. Same here. I always worry that I'm hugging someone who doesn't want to be hugged. Some of my friends have thought I don't like hugs, since I almost never initiate them, but I actually really like hugs.

So I'm wondering whether there are any trends as far as whether aros like to be touched. I have heard that a lot of aros don't like being touched, and I have always been curious about this because I like hugs and cuddling in a non-romantic way (just no kisses). In fact, that was one of the main things that made me take so long to realize I was aromantic. For this poll, I stuck to non-sexual touching because I'm ace and therefore not really the person to make questions about sexual touching.

I remember when I was at a wedding and the bride and groom kissed when people tapped on their glasses. My reaction was "Why do they have to do that? Will I have to do that at MY wedding????" YMBAI you thought mistletoe was a cruel joke to make people kiss each other when you first heard about it, and made a mental note to avoid mistletoe at Christmas parties. EDIT: "And why do people think there's ALWAYS another person there? What happens if you are the only one caught under it?"

Not sure if this is an aro or ace moment, but here goes: We were playing apples to apples. My brother, who was in his mid twenties, was the judge, and the green card was "hot." One of the cards was "My first kiss," and after my brother read the cards he said "It's my first kiss, hands down!" I was shocked. My brother. Had a first kiss. He had had several girlfriends by that time, so of course he did! But it had never occurred to me. A few months ago, I was telling my (alloromantic, allosexual) friend this story. He thought it was hilarious. But it didn't occur to me then, and not until very recently, that HE probably had a first kiss too! As much as I know most people are romantic, I still forget that all the time.

I love cats. I'm totally going to be the stereotypical aro cat lady. I'm really shy, and I don't make friends easily. I can enjoy romantic comedies/romance in fiction. I don't hate being touched; I like hugs and sometimes cuddling with friends, just don't try to kiss me! Sometimes I kind of like the idea of a relationship in theory, just not in practice.
