I've only come out to a handful of people, all close friends, and I haven't had anything too bad. I haven't tried my parents, I don't think they'd get it. Interestingly, the worst has been from an ace friend of mine, who, as opposed to the aro-ace solidarity I was hoping for, pulled out the good ol' "You'll find someone someday! :)" while the best has been from my very alloromantic + allosexual roommate who had no idea what the label meant :P once I explained and answered her polite follow up questions she was very sweet and supportive. -
I've been lured out of silently watching the forums by the mention of science :P I'm studying biochem(maybe?) and work as a lab assistant in an analytical chemistry lab! I'm interested in chemistry, cellular biology, and microbes.

I'm okay with pet names from certain close friends, but generally I'd rather people just refer to me by my actual name. -
There's just a lot of energy in the room, and most of the activities that get planned usually end up getting derailed for something else random. For instance, we were going to play Life, the board game. However, we never got past set-up because of the pink/blue gendered playing pieces, and the meeting was actually spent creating our own playing pieces out of cardstock. It probably differs a lot by school. I know for a fact that my middle school's GSA was more structured than ours :P

Not me, I didn't watch the video until after I figured out I was aspec, and started to see it referenced when I was doing more research.

I'm not entirely against the idea, but I can't really imagine finding someone I'd be interested in marrying.

While discovering the aro community has generally improved my life, it has rendered me unable to watch How I Met Your Mother without thinking "dang, I disagree with all the words you just said" every minute or so.

Very.
The whole show rotates around Mr. Ted Mosby, who is looking for his true love, "THE ONE". Beyond Ted, the other main characters are as followed:
Marshall and Lily, the husband-wife duo. They are the perfect couple. Lily specifically has a tendency to judge other people's relationships when they're not as "perfect".
Robin, who struggles to connect deeply with romantic partners. (gives very aro-spec vibes). Whenever she ends up in a committed relationship, it's sort viewed as her being "fixed".
Barney, who is constantly hooking up with random women, usually through some form of trickery. He's very much portrayed as the "bad alloaro" type character.
Beyond that, there's just a bunch of other stuff that comes up a lot. For instance, Ted and Barney at one point consider adopting a kid together, in an almost QPR type situation, but it's played off as a joke and Ted decides he has to "Wait for the real thing". Marshall and another single guy, after both being dumped, decide to do all the things they would have done with their girlfriends together, and are mocked brutally, and the episode ends with both guys getting back together with their girlfriends.
There's a lot of problematic stuff (slut shaming, fat shaming, a dash of occasional transphobia...). On the other hand, there's also some funny stuff, which is how I sometimes end up watching it, even if it does make me mad almost every episode.

It's very much okay that you don't want to meet with him! Just because he's got a crush on you doesn't mean you owe him anything. Also, super cool that you found a fellow grey out in the wild!
