Ace & Aro Movie Club thread

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Ace & Aro Movie Club info thread, where you can get information about a movie group managed by a few of your fellow resident AVEN/Arocalypse members!

This activity was put together to allow community members (first AVEN, then Arocalypse) the opportunity to join in the fun of an ace-/aro-friendly space whilst watching videos, listening to music and chatting together. A regular movie night is one of the ongoing activities hosted by the AMC, with a set of film showtimes, showcasing a different movie every week on Sundays. The films shown are voted in by movie group members.

 *~*

Movie night is open to anyone wanting to join in. However, some areas and info are only accessible by members. As members/audience, you will have access to:

  • the movie club "clubhouse" (read below for more info)
  • updated information of room changes
  • group chats (Skype/Discord)**members only
  • movie/group polls
  • film/music suggestion forms
  • additional information about other events/projects, as they occur (currently working on: ace radio and film playlists by request)

Interested? Contact one of the members listed below for more information or to request access. For clarification purposes, you do not have to be a Skype/Discord member to participate, but it does allow for streamlining of information.

*~*

If you have any feedback, questions, suggestions or ideas for this thread, feel free to contact myself, Inneruniverse or Faeriefate (on AVEN, Arocalypse, Skype/Discord at any time.

Regards ~BB

AMC Film of the week: Halloween Double Feature

The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It! (2007)

  Synopsis:

Bullied by her peers, tired of her parents and bugged by her little brother, goth girl Cassie decides to get some harmless revenge by reading a scary book to her brother - summoning a monster in the process.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Synopsis:

Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn't quite understand the concept.

?? ?

The countdown to Halloween is moving closer! We have a movie marathon planned for the 31st, comprised of a number of Halloween-themed/horror films; including the past poll winners throughout the entire month of October. It will begin at the end of the last Sunday's showtime event and will finish approximately around midnight, Monday (US-EDT).

After a few updates and patches to the userscript and the room, we can happily say that videos are now playable on tablets and phones without much issue. We know this has been a problem in the past, but hopefully it will remain a past issue. Of course, should any problems occur, please let us know.

Now, this is important... We have been working a lot on a number of features and club activities for the entertainment of our friends and those wishing to join as audience. However, this continued effort depends on numbers and feedback. We ask that those who are interested in joining, but may have schedule or time conflicts, contact us with their input and reasons so that we may adjust the showtimes and schedules.

Participation is free, of course, but (genuinely) the effort has not been matched, lately, with the participation returns. I don't want anyone to feel obligated to join, naturally. We just need to know that people want this to continue happening to justify the extensive time we are putting into it. I hope people will take some time to consider this and leave comments or PM with their thoughts, questions or suggestions.

Muchly appreciative,

~BB

My most sincere apologies, peoples! I have been a bit out of circulation for the better part of the last few weeks due to my inane schedule at good ol' UPS. Haven't had much chance to update things, so if you are seeing old bsns on the club site, that is the main reason why.

To catch everyone up, we watched an anime film (from series) titled "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya," last Sunday. Now, with Christmas right around the corner, in the midst of the holiday season, we will be having a holiday celebration marathon this Sunday. Have a favorite holiday film for the season? Let us know, via our handy-dandy film request form, here. Or send a PM!

Here is a current list of some of the films/specials we are considering for the marathon. Please let us know if you have any suggestions!!

A Christmas Story (1983)
Santa Clause (1994)
Home Alone  (1990)
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (1989)
Arthur Christmas (2011)
