*ahem* Dearest PBM, would you care to partake in a camping trip with me? (There will be s'mores.)

Yes please! (I love your *ahem*! The s'more the merrier?)

TPBM, please may we listen to your favourite tune(s) together? Let's bop!

another ring i made, this time with a copper inlay

It looks so badass and this colour is so gorgeous! Did you make it in the same way, and with the same materials, as your first one here, if you don't mind the q.?

we could probably even set up some sort of Arocalypse D&D event or something

I'd be super interested in this! Perhaps we can find solutions to these logistical questions together! :arocapapo:

the campaign's taking place in modern new york, but it's a bit different with the introduction of magic and such.

This setting sounds so vibey! What inspired this choice for your new campaign? How is it going for your adventurers, too, if you've been able to begin thus far?

i think i am aromantic. and it's so wonderful and awful at the same time. having this knowledge makes everything make more sense: the past, the present, my understanding of myself, etc. but i'm also confused.

Thank you so much for your essay and for expressing yourself in such a lovely way!

i love and always have loved music. listening, singing, playing instruments, and even writing/producing music. it's a universal language. and it has the capability to make people feel things. i love writing and reading, too. i've found that poetry (as well as songwriting, because those are so very similar) is a really good outlet for my creativity. for the past two years i've been a student correspondent for my local newspaper.

Which instruments do you play? How have you found your brush with journalism so far? Which ideas or thoughts do you like to touch on in your songwriting?

Your username is so brilliant! Perhaps you and @CrisisApple can team up to become sweet-and-savoury heroes - two peas-in-a-pod (on the beet) solving culinary crises in this jam-packed world of ours.

Here's hoping that you may find many of the answers you seek! May you love your time here!

  6. Phew, mega congrats for this and for your move! I hope it begins to feel a little bit like home for you soon! 🪴 Is your new flat in a different area? How is this bed feeling?

  7. *gasp!* Our one true Admin, turned gentleman thief? It would be an honour to serve! This will be the most spectacular British heist since Aardman's The Wrong Trousers. I'll meet you on the rooftops!

Dearest PBM (lovely phrasing!), I'm concocting a little arospec-friendly ice-cream to celebrate the end of Aro-Spec Awareness Week! :aroicecream: Please would you be my taste-tester?

Flapjacks? They're called Pancakes where I come from lol.

Ooh, I didn't know this! Thank you for educating me! A flapjack can also refer to a syrupy, oat-based treat, which can often be found in an egg- and dairy-free form and can be especially nice with hits of gingery warmth, if you like gentle spices!

When i was growing up, the stores would stock this Neapolitan combo of orange, raspberry, and lime sherbet. IT WAS THE BEST.

Wow! Incredible scenes! Is orange ice-cream a frequently-found flavour? I don't think I've heard of this before!

Do you remember the taste of this? What was the strongest element, would you say, or were the three fruity parts (a little more?) equally balanced?

Growing up, a brush with heaven was a Battenberg cake made entirely from sorbet - alternating raspberry and mango squares of bliss, it was similarly the best.

Perhaps an ice-cream cake such as this would be one way to bring our a-spec communities together? :aroicecream::cakeslice:

P.S. Team Sorbet! Blackcurrant, (plum-like!) damson and one more vote for 🍋!

do you have any "traditions" you do on valentines?

for me, every year on valentines i write some "loveless sonnets" or sonnets without the whole lovey-dovey aspect in them. just for the irony.

Wow! This is an incredible tradition! I would love to read your sonnets! 📖

Hello all – hope you are all hanging in there. I am posting because I am wondering about other people’s thoughts regarding aromanticism versus an avoidant attachment style. I have identified as aromantic for years now, but now in therapy, my therapist and I are examining my attachment style, which is definitely avoidant… I am trying to figure out how to tell the difference between having that attachment style and knowing if I am aromantic. I still think I’m aro, but it does make me question myself. Anyone have any thoughts? I’d super appreciate any insights you may have!!

Hey! You might find this thread beneficial! One idea within these posts is that you can be both. (This comment by NotHeartless touches on your question too!)

Is your therapist accepting towards aromanticism? Some people have answered this question by observing differences in non-romantic bonds. Others, through therapy, have come to realise that aromanticism still resonates as truth, even if their attachment style is now quite different.

We’re thinking about an aro reading group here, and an initial & upcoming choice is Platonic by Marisa Franco. It's so good on avoidant attachment. I’m (mostly) not avoidant myself, although I’m also far from secure, and the passages on avoidance are so illuminating. I don’t know if you like to read, yet I would recommend it you so much!

As a little heads-up, if you're aplatonic or if you might not be plato-favourable, the title is very much the essence of the book. You may also be aplatonic and not mind friendship-focused reads. Just to sprinkle this in here!

Thank you for sharing your question with us! :tadpole:

Selfishly made this thread to vent about the fact that I started watching a movie (Your Place or Mine) just because I saw Rachel Bloom was in it and love Rachel Bloom. My naive little asexual heart didn't process the name of the movie, and I didn't even read the descrip. So I should have known better, but still disappointed to run into yet another "men and women can't really be platonic friends - they've actually been secretly in love with each other the entire time!" piece of media. Also the "he's only a player because he's a totally sad boy yearning for the love of a good woman" trope.

Especially when Rachel Bloom can be so subversive when it comes to tropes! That's so frustrating. She is more than this!

People literally complaining about the price of cheese here. All the time. Even though there's plenty of other affordable foods for them. Never mind that millions of people on the other side of Europe are suffering immensely, not to mention many millions of others around the world still in real poverty.

    This! I Camembert it. 🗺️

I guess the hard part for me is I’m someone that likes to have somewhat concrete answers and at the present time I’m so unsure that finding one is a long way out but I’m glad I found somewhere like this that I can try to learn from to maybe find those answers.

This is so understandable. I needed a decade for this.

Being here, for me, has accelerated this process so much. I hope you may find the communities that aid you just as much! Remember that we're all confused windbags in life. You are not alone! :tadpole::tadpole::tadpole:

  14. Welcome! All of this can be very difficult to process, and it's okay if everything feels strange, especially when it's all so new. One idea would be to give this time. Your experiences are ones that many of us share. You certainly could be aromantic and/or a-spec! As you may have read, however, only you can answer this. It's not an ideal answer, yet if you find an orientation in the future which feels right, it may well feel fantastic for you soon.

Uncertainty can be a wonderful state, even if it feels so hard. I very much appreciate that your present orientation is written as a question mark. I wish to be open as your "?".

It's such a sublime time to be questioning. Yet with so many resources, it can also feel overwhelming - where do you begin? Pepper your friend with questions, and ask us as many as you wish to. Give your mind a breather, or plentiful ones, whenever you need one. Float around this forum and let your resting mind cross-pollinate ideas for you. You don't have to quest through all of these ideas alone. We are here to support you. I just know that you will find answers which are just for you, and I can't wait to read more of your thoughts, if you wish to share more with us here. We are with you!

I bet the vast majority don't even know where the names for "galaxy" and the "Milky Way" came from and the myth of its creation behind it. Even I only found out this decade, despite being interested in both mythologies and space. 😅

Wow, I don't know this! 🌌 Where do their names come from?
