  1. Hi! I am Aroace and I honestly wish we had a little more representation in literature. While there is starting to be more representation in Film and Media, I find aroace rep lacking in the literature department (it is also still lacking in the film and media area too, but books less so I find). I love to read and am not the biggest fan of TV shows and movies. I typically stick to fantasy cause I find I can ignore the romance subplots (just because I am not a fan of romance) and can focus on the other things going on that often have more importance in the story and that I am more interested in. If anyone has any recommendations of books with aroace rep I would love to hear them! I just found a book called Aces Wild: A Heist by Amanda DeWitt, it's a good book if anyone was interested and does have aroace rep.
  2. I think the worst response I got was from a friend I was trying to come out to and they said "how are you going to be happy then" and also said "your young so of course you don't know what love is cause you haven't found the right person yet, give it time". It felt very demeaning to me overall.
  3. I started questioning that I was aromantic while I was in what I thought to be my first romantic relationship. I didn't realize until 7 months in why I was unhappy with the relationship, and it made me question a lot of things especially when I was discussing what was romantic with my partner. It was my first relationship and I had previously considered myself a romantic in my head but when I actually did the romantic things I didn't like it at all or I felt indifferent towards the situation and my partner at the time, and that was a big part of why I started researching about aromantics. I have realized now that my definition of a relationship is similar to a QRP.
  4. Hi! Its nice to meet people that seem to feel the same way as I do about all of this!
  5. Hi Everyone! I am very new and have never been a part of a forum before, but I am exploring what aromantic means to me right now but I definitely associate with the community and am currently using the label aromantic to see if it fits with me, as that is the label I relate most to right now. I am looking for similar people who might be able to share their experiences with me and talk about being aromantic freely and maybe help me feel not so alone. I figured out I was asexual over 4 years ago and have recently been exploring that I might also be aromantic. I have always know that the way I interact with people and potential partners will always be different then what is presented in the media and from my friends. Although recently I'm not sure if I even want to be a part of the dating world, as previously I have always liked romantic things in my head, but when I did them in real life I didn't like it very much or I was just indifferent towards it. I am currently studying Fine Arts and Marketing in post-secondary, and my favorite subject is Art History. I love all things about crafting and creating and I love to read and listen to music. My favorite genre is Fantasy (I never like romance books to even begin with), and that influences a lot of my art works. I am also an introverted person who likes having my own space. I look forward to future conversations and meeting people who I might be able to relate to!
