I've been lured out of silently watching the forums by the mention of science :P I'm studying biochem(maybe?) and work as a lab assistant in an analytical chemistry lab! I'm interested in chemistry, cellular biology, and microbes.

I'm okay with pet names from certain close friends, but generally I'd rather people just refer to me by my actual name.

There's just a lot of energy in the room, and most of the activities that get planned usually end up getting derailed for something else random. For instance, we were going to play Life, the board game. However, we never got past set-up because of the pink/blue gendered playing pieces, and the meeting was actually spent creating our own playing pieces out of cardstock.
It probably differs a lot by school. I know for a fact that my middle school's GSA was more structured than ours :P

Cool! I'm in my school's GSA, and it's super fun, though very chaotic.

False, I don't like politics. There are too many angry people and I'm bad at having opinions.
TPBM is a middle child.

I like to joke that the reason I still wear a mask to school is because "love is in the air, and I'm allergic."

I'm also not interested in a qpr! You're definitely not the only one :)

That's great that she's accepting of that, at least!

Not me, I didn't watch the video until after I figured out I was aspec, and started to see it referenced when I was doing more research.

I'm not entirely against the idea, but I can't really imagine finding someone I'd be interested in marrying.

I'd rather be reading than getting marriedI'd rather give up cheese and ice-cream than get married.

It's very much okay that you don't want to meet with him! Just because he's got a crush on you doesn't mean you owe him anything. Also, super cool that you found a fellow grey out in the wild!

Loth from the Priory of the Orange Tree!
The author has stated that he's ace-spec and not aromantic, but he really seems like he's aro-spec too. He's thirty years old, and intends to get married, but he's never fallen in love. Plus, I just relate to his character and want to claim him as aro property.

I quite enjoy being single!

On the to-read list it goes!

Yikes, I'm sorry you have to deal with her. She is, as you said, very incorrect. Not everyone dates in high school, and tons of folks go to prom with friends.

I read Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger recently and enjoyed it! The main character is aroace, and clearly stated to be so multiple times.

No problem, glad I could help!

I have! I would definitely say it's worth a read, it's actually one of my favorite books :D
The writing's lovely, it's got some really nice morally grey characters, and the author works in a ton of references to Chinese history, which is cool. There's some minor romancey stuff, but it's not too bad. I would mention, though, it's a pretty brutal read, so I would recommend taking a glance at the trigger warnings first :)

Having disagreements with my mom is very frustrating :\
It happens very, very rarely. Most of the time, we get along perfectly fine. But, every once in a while, we find some topic we don't quite agree on, and it inevitably leaves me upset. She doesn't have discussions, she gives lectures. She'll let me say words, but everything in her tone says, let me explain why you're stupid and naïve and 100% wrong. Then, when I give up and suggest we talk about something else, she gets mad and ignores me for a few hours.
I know I'm only 18, but I give my parents pretty much unconditional respect (I'm either mature or just really boring, take your pick) and it would be nice if that could be reciprocated at least a little bit. I'm not asking her to change her viewpoint, I just want her to acknowledge that mine has merit and not make me feel like a fucking idiot.

That's awesome :D

I like the combo one a little better aesthetically, but the sunset one is fun if you want subtle pride stuff (I made myself a bookmark recently!).

Hmm, that's tough. I like all of them, but Revenge of the Sith has a special place in my heart! (Though it can be controversial 😅)
How about you?
I also like all of them! I'd say my favorite's probably Rogue One, I know it's not part of the main arcs but I really enjoyed it. I'm also pretty fond of the Clone Wars show.
What’s the best/worst response you’ve gotten to coming out?

I've only come out to a handful of people, all close friends, and I haven't had anything too bad. I haven't tried my parents, I don't think they'd get it.
Interestingly, the worst has been from an ace friend of mine, who, as opposed to the aro-ace solidarity I was hoping for, pulled out the good ol' "You'll find someone someday! :)" while the best has been from my very alloromantic + allosexual roommate who had no idea what the label meant :P once I explained and answered her polite follow up questions she was very sweet and supportive.
