This is a space to talk about your experiences with homophobia against aros (and aces).  If there is triggering material pls preface that! This is not meant to romanticize experiences and pls don't compare/brag about how bad ur experiences were/are, ALL TRAUMA IS VALID! Respect this like you would any other vent thread. I know experiences shouldn't be compared to each other, but I think mine is very mild in the relative sense of casual arophobia. I came out as aromantic on accident to a co-worker a while back, and although it went fine and she seemed very accepting, she kind of said something that irked me? I told her that I don't experience romantic attraction, or basically "I can't fall in love," and she said something along the lines of, "Oh, I have quite a few books about romance that can change that!"

I know, not that bad, and she sounded like she was joking, but it still set me on edge. Maybe it was because I was looking for an adverse reaction or a means to defend my identity? I don't know, but it still didn't feel great for my identity to be swept under the umbrella of "Oh that will eventually change because everyone can feel love" rug.
