TwilightArrow Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) hello! :D i just found this site and im quite thrilled! im a bit of a lurker on forums usually but ill try my best to actually be active XD. this seems fun, and everyone seems really nice, so, hello! nice to meet everyone!!! :D this is really long. i hope you can bear with me lol. ive highlighted stuff in my interests so its easily skimmable, if you want. on me and my aromanticism, i guess - my mother is lesbian, and ive grown up and been in the queer community my whole life, but i didn't find out about aromantic until i was in highschool. id always thought of myself as a very romantic person, and struggled to come to grips with my identity for a long, long time. i did eventually, after many years, but was met with a lot of arophobia, and a pretty unfortunate series of events ensued that has irreperably damaged my relationship to myself and my identity. im years past that now, and wear my little pride badge everywhere i go, but i do still struggle with myself pretty badly. but i think somewhere im very proud of myself, and proud of being aromantic, and i hope to get better with that (hence what has led me here - ive been trying to involve myself in more aromantic community stuff, and meet more fellow aromantics~). that ended up a bit gloomy, sorry about that. onto lighter stuff - aka my interests! im really into pretty much anything creative, as well as history, culture and science. i love comics - strips, issues, graphic novels, manga, webcomics and all that! ive been huge into them since i was a kid, and my shelf is pretty dominated by all the comics ive amassed over my life. i mainly read webcomics on sites like comicfury, hiveworks and neocities, but i read a couple ones on sites like webtoons and tapastic as well. im really into animation, the history and theory of it, and watch a lot of cartoons and anime and stuff. MLP, magical girls, FLCL, raggedy ann & andy, kaiba, dorohedoro, cartoon saloon, flying bark, yada yada yada. i grew up on looney toons, ghibli and mecha anime lol. i love music, and im really into the local scenes here (particularly punk and raves). i mainly listen to rock: punk, the occassional shoegaze; and pretty much anything electronic, especially really geeky electro pop and nonsense memey hardcore. specific musicians i like are tamar-kali, kathleen hanna, acidic fundip soundsystems, JD samson, alex g, camp 909, babes in toyland, sonic youth, black fire and (!!i do not like them as people at all!!) renard and tribe 8. and so many more lol. ive been trying to get really back into reading, and seeing all the aro book recommendations ive got a very strong incentive to! im very excited ☺️. then the big one, i love games!! especially i really love indie games, and am always on itch.io adding stuff to my fuck-huge 'to play' folder. im particularly interested in narrative-focused games (so i mostly end up playing visual novels admittedly), and love games that exploit the medium for the narrative (like the button scene in 'your turn to die'). other than indie games, i really like puyo puyo, the zelda series, pokemon, harvest moon, ace attorney, among others (im always playing on my DS haha!). i also play chicken smoothie (add me! kittycatgirlp). for what i do myself i mainly draw and write, and work really hard at that always. i hope i can bring many very aro stories to the world haha~ i also make music, code, and whatever else strikes my fancy really. i like to try and build skills in a lot of different things. additionally to all this, im also a collector! i collect mainly dolls, mainly-mainly LPS, and also collect clown-related-anything (i really love clowns and cirque!). ive also got a lot of physical media, comics, CDs, records, DVDs, game cartridges/discs, books, etc. etc.. but thats mainly just because i prefer physical over digital, and i dont really go out of my to actually 'collect' them. if you wanna see any of my collection, let me know! id love to talk about it ☺️ im really interested in the history on most of these things, as well as history of culture such as queer and music subcultures. im indigenous (mixed Māori and plains NDN, current settler on Wadawurrung country), and my familys and peoples' histories, cultures and the preservation of them is very, very important to me. CLCPC kamakʉtʉ nʉ! i just like science, and am a bit of a nerd about it. but im also not very smart, so dont expect me to be XD thats all, probably. if you stuck with me this long, uh, thankyou! oh, also, im stupidly obsessed with an indie visual novel called 'Our Wonderland'. and ill probably talk about it a lot. the protagonist as well as one of the primary characters are both arospec (demiromantic and greyromantic respectively), and i love them very dearly hehe. anyway, hello! nice to meet yall! i hope we can be friends ☺️ Edited August 27 by TwilightArrow 4 Quote

(: i know the smashing pumpkins and david bowie, but havent listened to a ton myself.
