AroAcedragon15
Hi! I haven't been super active on here in a while. I just realized that I don't really feel as connected to the aro and ace communities as I used to. I was in school for a while obviously and in there it's very homophobic so I tend to sort of disconnect from that part of myself at times. I feel more comfortable and open with my other queer friends but they only understand so much. There's still a level of disconnect. They don't understand a lot of my experiences. And I don't expect them to it's impossible. I don't understand them completely either. I don't know how to reconnect with the aro and ace communities. Has anyone else experienced this? If so how did you reconnect?
DeltaAro
I mean, it's kind of obvious that people in the wider queer community may understand aromanticism less, for obvious reasons (it's an absence). Obvious advice: what about AVEN forums? Obvious advice IRL: what about aro / ace gatherings? Spoiler In the whole metropolitan area where I live there's one (yes, one... unbelievable 🙄) regular meeting for aros and aces. But It's much more ace than aro. It's in rooms of my old university, which I honestly didn't want to visit again, LOL. And I like to have some choices what I want to drink. 😄 Though I understand that contrary to renting a room from a restaurant or the like, it's super-cheap. You can go there without spending any money so it really doesn't exclude anyone. Also I feel damn old. They asked me if I also study here. Well, uhm, I did. But I got my degree many years ago. OK, on this board, I'm even more away from the average age than there, but I hope my posts aren't overly millennial-esque, so that nobody notices. The Reddit aro communities are ... yeah ... let's say controversial and weird, the last time I looked. Don't know about the ace ones.
