Sad aro
With help from a friend, I found out a new term, "aro dysphoria", that maybe suits my experiences better than "romance repulsion". Cause I'm not really repulsed by romance in general. It's more about romance towards me, which to me means expectations and requirements that I cannot live up to. Uncomfortable feelings can also occur when I'm coded by the surroundings as alloromantic.
Neon
I’m like that, but I prefer the term “romance averse” personally. People should use what they like though!
nonmerci
Yeah there is already a term for that which is romance averse.
Sad aro
I didn't know the word "romance averse". It suits me too! Sometimes I can be more ambivalent though, like traditionally romantic coded acts can feel okay as long as they don't come with expectations that I cannot live up to and don't happen in public. Then maybe "aro dysphoria" explains it better.
alto
Aro dysphoria sounds like gender dysphoria. It sounds like you want to be aro, but are not. Go with averse ;)
