YMBAI if you are confused by the "I love you" thing and why it is an important "step " in a romantic relationship. Because why would you date someone you don't love (romantically)?

(I thought that being crushes and being in love was the same)

YMBAI the only person ever giving you butterflies in your stomach is a dentist, because you're scared.

YMBAI you thing "wow this song rocks" and then you look up the lyrics and are bitterly disappointed because the

whole meaning is "i love you. please marry me" and you're just like eww why did they ruin a perfectly good song?

Or if you don't understand movies, books, etc. with heavily romantic themes.

Omg there are so many times where I’m watching a show or something and suddenly two characters go from disliking each other to dating and I’m just like ?how?? Usually when I get invested in romantic plots it’s more about me just wanting to see them get along and be happy, all the intricacies fly over my head. Like when kid flash and Artemis in young justice kissed at the end of s1 or when m’ghan and connar started dating.

there was one movie that I really liked a lot because I related to the girl  a lot. It was a rom com and it was sort of supposed to be a play on the pixie dream girl trope. 500 days of summer, it’s about a boy who falls in love with a girl (I think it was also his first crush or something) anyways, he asks her out and she says yes but only 500 days. She told him from the beginning to not get too romantically invested because she won’t, but he hoped she would love him back soon enough. They did do a lot of romantic stuff but I don’t want to spoil the whole movie, but it’s really good. It’s not told in chronological order, and I like how the girl is definitely greyromantic. Before I learned of aromanticism I loved this movie because I related to her so much but I didn’t know why, but it helped.

YMBAI you laughed hysterically during “Titanic” while all your friends cried, ‘cause come on... that was so corny

Titanic was my favourite movie as a child/teenager, but the love story went WAY over my head... I loved it because I like history and I thought, that the ship was cool. To me it was "this is historical drama where two people meet on a ship, but then it sinks and one of them dies, which is why it is important to always have enough lifeboats". I did not realise until many years later that people view it as a romantic story :D

(Also, little ace Metelyk did NOT understand "draw me like one of your french women" scene hahaha)

Never experiencing crushes.

I've gotten crushes. Its was only recently that I realized I make myself feel romantically as a sport though so they weren't actually real.

A weird thing for me: I was never told what sex was. I never needed them too. Like, I was just born understanding what it was but ignored it since I deemed it unimportant.

I cried because that one of the few movies I am emotionally affected by. I only cry though because the hopelessness of their(the passengers) situation was. I never gave 2 shits about Jack and Rose though.

I like that movie because I like that actress. She always has a nice vibe.

Wait, what? Damn, I feel too ace again lol.

I loved Titanic too as a child... because I liked the iceberg drama and was kinda into catastrophes at the time. The romantic was and still is more like... yeah... let's just ignore it completely!

I don't know if this is an aromantic thing or not, since I'm not sure if I'm aromantic, but my best friend ships me with one of our other friends, and when she told me, I basically went "I don't like him like that, just like every other human in existence, but okay" and she said "Yeah, I know" and I said "Okay" and she said "Okay" and we just went on with our lives.

YMBAI you always got over breakups the minute it happened

YMBAI you ever felt anxiety when someone tried to be romantic with you (and not in the 'i can't believe this is happening what if i screw up' butterfly feeling anxiety)

YMBAI you felt bad for being in a romantic relationship with someone, feeling that you weren't being honest to yourself or them

Wait, Titanic isn’t supposed to be a horror movie?  I never understood how it was seen as romantic at all...

YMBAI: You mistook flirtation for alburero all your life and still can’t do flirtatious gestures except in jest/as a dominance contest

YMBAI if watching a romcom or reading a romance book feels exactly like having to do a word problem on a math test when you're terrible at math

Or if the only reason you're interested in a romantic story is because it's 1. Queer and 2. Isn't 100% a romance story (ie is also mystery or something) so you don't get too bored

When you're okay with doing romantic gestures to make someone else happy but you don't get why they need or want it and would really rather not

When you get excited about marriage because it means someone is "contractually obligated to be my best friend"

On that note YMBAI the only reason you saw for getting into a romantic relationship is because someone once told you that your romantic partner is supposed to be your best friend and you are obsessed with the idea of best friends

If all your teenage yearning and daydreams were about having a best friend and not at all about having a romantic relationship

YMBAI you cry in "Titanic" when the ship is sinking because you love the nostalgic aura of the ship itself (dare I say the classical romance of the idea of a ship being the mode of transport between places rather than being a casino on the waves?) and human ingenuity and tenaciousness to make a ship that large BY HAND because the Titanic and ships like it are a fundamental acknowledgement of the ability of humans to come together to create something no individual could produce. And that music. That music! Be still my Balto loving heart at 6:15 of 'The Death of the Titanic' track.

Then you don't cry when *spoiler* that character dies. But you might just sob a little at the finale because really, if she didn't want the necklace I sure would love to have it.
