  1. Welcome! Well, I tried to include a picture of a manul but apparently the image embedding is still broken. But welcome anyway! Hope you enjoy your stay.
  2. As soon as I go to the effort of doing a workaround, my host gets back to me! Emails should be at 100% now.
  3. Emails are using a temporary workaround to get them working. There may be some issues in the short term but all emails that should have gone out are now being retried and I will be keeping an eye on things.
  4. @Magni Looks like internal embeds are working now and external embeds are degrading to just regular links without breaking the server. Oh, I was testing it with Imgur which isn't on the official list but apparently does embed inside the editor: Links from the following sites are supported: College Humor, Coub, Dailymotion, Facebook, Flickr, Funny Or Die, Gfycat, Google Maps, Hulu, Instagram, ReverbNation, Screencast.com, SmugMug, SoundCloud, Spotify, TED, Twitch, Twitter, Ustream, Vimeo, Vine, Wistia, YouTube, and internal links to content within the community. Testing Gfycat: https://gfycat.com/hollowdigitalcorydorascatfish-kittens-cats-cute Well, so much for that. At the very least the server isn't falling over completely now.
  5. Thanks for the report Magni. I've also added a list of current known issues to the first post of this thread so there's an easy reference for people.
  6. I can't speak for final decisions, but I suspect we may end up being more heavy handed with warnings but making many of them temporary and wear off after some period of time. That combined with a heavy dose of talking to people.
  7. We'll take this into consideration during the review, but on a personal note: anything with the word 'personal' in it will take some measure of judgement call on a case by case basis just by virtue of the fact that each person is individual and we can't specify a complete list of all things someone might consider an insult.
  8. Thanks for reporting this! There was an effort to make old links work but apparently it wasn't quite working. This is fixed now.
  9. We have a mind to review them but no immediate plans to change anything in particular right now. If you have questions about them then please ask but I can’t promise an immediate response but they will definitely feed into that review at a minimum for a response later.
  10. If you can reproduce the error then a screenshot may help. It's also possible you're having a few issues due to the DNS changeover - seeing the form on the new server but submitting to the old one which could produce weird results like this. I know I had some issues for a few hours where I as getting phantom notifications loaded off the old server.
  11. The new host offers SSL for free so we now have it enabled everywhere now @Ch0c0.
  12. Illness implies something temporary. If you can get better from it then it's definitely not something that can be included underneath neurodiversity. If it's something that permanently changes you like PTSD and especially C-PTSD usually does (as one example) then it's a little more grey and people start fighting over definitions. Personally, I do include those people if they wish to be. As I mentioned, the neurodiversity movement really isn't about exact 'conditions', it's about acceptance of different peoples experiences and reactions to outcomes that may be different to your own.
  13. Not necessarily an issue per ce, but the old Arocalypse website is no more. I have the files for it from @Blue Phoenix Ace so it is not lost and may make an appearance at some point.
  14. Email notifications are currently not working. They may or may not all go out when I fix this - I'm unsure how Invision works in that respect. This is priority #1 after the migration for me. Update: Email notifications may be a little while (a day or two) - I need to go through support for my host to get email sending enabled.
  15. This thread is for anyone who has issues after the site migration. Let us know below! Currently active known issues: none
  16. Ok, so, as someone who's probably considered a privacy fundamentalist and also someone in IT... GDPR was largely good, but slightly overbearing and poorly worded as relates to the actual technologies at play. Basically, whenever you store anything that would identify a user you have to inform that user. Since cookies are specific to a user, they can be used to identify that user and so... here we are. It's an unfortunate end result, but also not that big a deal in the long run I guess. I would rather have the law than not even as someone who has had to implement that bar multiple times now...
  17. Welcome! It's unlikely to shut down, we just needed some time to figure out how. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
  18. I am a autistic. Even for things like autism there's a pretty heavy dose of self-identification at the moment. Lots of people prefer neurodivergent and lots of people prefer disabled. Some like both! Neurodivergence is about brain structure though. This doesn't mean from birth, though. Things like PTSD end up rewiring the brain over time and often qualify too. Neurodiversity is more about recognising that not everyones brain works in the same way than it is about any specific condition that causes someone to be neurodivergent. For my money, I'm less worried about who is using it and more about the concept underpinning it - acceptance and understanding of people who behave and act differently to myself. I am neurodivergent, we are neurodiverse. 'Neurodiverse' is the plural of 'neurodivergent'.
  19. Another related term is nebularomantic and the related set of nebula- terms which is basically quoi- with a neurodivergent root.
  20. On the contrary, I think most, but not all, people here have been welcoming of AVEN as a backup plan, just not as it has been presented: as the best possible option.
  21. There is not because it's still an open question as to who will take over and who should run any sort of fundraising attempts if they are even needed. AUREA have discussed opening one of these if we do get the reigns, but we're holding off on things like opening donations till we know they're going to the right place. This is precisely why I would rather keep Arocalypse run by aros for aros. AVEN's offer, while appreciated, is similar to one of the big gay or lesbian organisations coming and offering aid to AVEN. Think how you would feel in that situation, should it ever come up. It's not that it isn't appreciated, but there's been enough support from existing members that I am, personally, confident we could easily see the forum into the future on our own. That is of course just my opinion, but the number of people responding in this thread with offers of money and time is testament to the viability of that, at least into the 12 month sort of time frame. That said, I'm always open to consultation with the folks at AVEN. I'd just rather that the people running the show are foremost aros themselves - it feels too much like a potential conflict of interest otherwise.
  22. To this point, this isn't even about AVEN in particular for me. True, there's many people in the community who have personal experiences and that makes this a little more visceral for them. But I would be against any of the other big non-aro organisations getting involved as a first option. It's nice that those options exist, but if we can keep Arocalypse run by people inside the community then that will be my vote every time.
  23. Given the number of aro individuals and at least one aro organisation also interested in keeping Arocalypse alive, it really shouldn't be necessary. I'm not sure why AVEN is seemingly our number one option.
  24. I can commit to running things from a technical perspective and potentially short-term funding. I don't know what the moderation story is here or the day to day running though - I have little ability to help on that front. I run servers for a living so this is definitely something I can take on in my free time.
  25. I wouldn't recommend telling strangers that you're aro. I think Cee Fox is probably on the right track here.
