Exactly! In the US, I don't feel I have as much connection to other cultures, and when I try it just feels like appropriation or that I'm faking it even though I am from that culture. I don't think there's one country that has every good ideal nailed down, but you don't have to conform to every single aspect of it. Traditions change with time, and hopefully a more open community can be created in the future.

That's actually how I figured out I was aroace! A couple of years ago I thought I was a lesbian and just scrolling through the posts I couldn't relate to a single one of them which led to here. But you're right, I've never seen an aro lesbian post and of course if there are any they're just sexualizing lesbians, which leads to the soft wlw thing: No winning there. I feel one of the good things about being aroace is that you never have to come out if you don't want to. Like with trans or other allo people, they have to come out because it's pretty obvious like if someone gets a partner not of the opposite gender or presents as a different gender entirely. But with aroace people there's nothing to show; if no one asks, you don't have to tell them. I'm lucky to not have relatives pestering me about getting a romantic partner, but at least I can just say I'm more focused on work and self development, and usually no one presses further.

You don't have any courses anymore because you got kicked out of university. I wish there was more aroace representation.
