Yeah... sometimes it isn't easy to get beyond the whole romance-coded nature of those things, and even tougher when we're conflicted about maybe, kinda, just a little bit wanting some of those things and being massively freaked out by how society categorizes those things. Especially when you get pressure from family/friends/society about getting your ass back in line and doing what everyone else is doing. It's enough to do your head in, and it gets exhausting trying to explain yourself all the time.
However things work out, I'm pretty sure you've got it together! You just seem like a together sort of person.

Urg... and this is one reason why I keep contact with my father's side of the family to a minimum. Poor you... an innocent thing like playing with a little kid, and amatonormativity has to go and wreck it. (when I play with little kids it's because I'm kind of a superannuated, oversized child myself, not because I want to produce and parent one!)
