Consent and setting non-sexual boundaries

I need time to think about this -
Consent and setting non-sexual boundaries
paporomantic replied to Cassiopeia's topic in Aromantic Relationships
Re: pet names - I'd add an extra question about what the terms should be, with few popular terms of endearment as options - sometimes it's hardly possible for partners to agree for pet names to call each other because their favorite animals are different. I'd hate being called a puppy or especially a fishie but would tolerate being called a kitty -
Consent and setting non-sexual boundaries

Judging by the feedback I once got from romantic aces about such a super-detailed list, I'd advise you to make a short list of main (bullet) points first and then, if there's no major conflict over the short request, proceed to send requests-appendices with finer details of each of the bullet points, one by one. A long list will gross some people out because not everyone is ready to approach a relationship so rationally. -
@aussiekirkland You've made me feel broken, haha. Well, I've always known that I am, but I'm repairing myself gradually
-
Do you want me to apply it to my attitude to my, erm, currently most preferred person? I'm not even sure whom to give this title
-
Did you measure your current feelings or did you apply the test to the most intense feelings you've ever had? I did the latter. If you did do too, congrats on being much more predisposed to happiness than me The score of my current feelings is way lower, lol.

OMG, James Park is my hero! I score 90-95 on his test, but I totally share his negative view on 'romantic love' (limerence, in preciser scientific terms). I don't think that having experienced limerence makes one (grey-)romantic; conscious longing to have such an experience once again (or continue it with the current 'loved one') is necessary to make such a conclusion, imho. In short, a romantic is someone who would like to be 'in love' (limerent), an aro is someone who would hate it. Also, I adore it that he classifies rational mate-selection as non-romantic A corollary is that I pity romantics just like drug addicts

How cruel of them I did the test once upon a time and remember that it was extremely tedious and indeed required good knowledge of the US culture... It described me as an androgynous MtF crossdresser with mild inner conflicts, which is fair enough.

Why Do You Identify as Gray-romantic?
paporomantic replied to Starry Sky's topic in Aromantic Discussion
I care a lot about not looking like a 'special snowflake', both to the general society and to the ace/aro community. If you could get into my head and peer-review my past feelings, you'd likely disagree that I'm 100% aro (i.e. that my suffering was not romantic attraction) no matter how strongly I'd be asserting it. Anyway, my behavior doesn't depend on my labels, I'm not going to let them rule my life. -
@Cassiopeia You can create a spoiler (like the two that Blue has posted above) by highlighting the content to be hidden and then clicking on the eye on the far right of the editor panel. That eye icon is indeed counterintuitive, I realised only a couple of minutes ago that it creates a spoiler (previously, I was writing
content to be hidden
tags in posts manually , which is however sometimes a more robust method than using the eye - it avoids bugs that sometimes happen in the WYSIWYG editor when the content to be hidden contains tags like quotes or images).

@Blue Phoenix Ace The appearance of the 'Anyone who isn't aro?' thread has made me wonder: isn't it appropriate to eventually create a forum analogous to AVEN's SPFA (For Sexual Partners, Friends and Allies) but with 'sexual' substituted for 'romantic', i.e. a forum where zedromantic allies (relatives, friends, QP partners, etc.) of arospecs can discuss issues related to the interaction with the arospecs?

@Elise They were appointed by Blue Phoenix Ace.

ASTROCALYPTISTS VS ARTOCALYPTISTS

HAVE ANY OF YOU HEARD ABOUT CHRIS CANTWELL'S QUANTUM CHESS [Q] MIND = BLOWN. IT'S HAS TOO COMPLEX RULES TO BE PLAYABLE BY A WIDE AUDIENCE, THOUGH.
-
I WAS TAUGHT THE BASICS OF SPECIAL RELATIVITY THEORY AND DISCRETE PROBABILITY THEORY AT HIGH SCHOOL, BUT THAT WAS IN A GROUP OF STUDENTS TALENTED IN MATH. I'M NOT SURE IF A GENERIC SCHOOL STUDENT COULD UNDERSTAND IT. GENERAL RELATIVITY [THE BASIS FOR GRAVITATIONAL WAVE STUDY] AND QUANTUM MECHANICS REQUIRE A HEAVY HIGHER MATH APPARATUS THAT'S TAUGHT TO MATH UNI JUNIORS.
-
YEAH, ALAS PHYSICS PROFESSORS ARE OFTEN BAD AT BUILDING LOGICALLY COHERENT COURSES, UNLIKE MATHEMATICIANS.
-
DON'T ALL UNI-LEVEL PHYSICISTS HAVE TO KNOW [AT LEAST A BIT] AND APPLY THEORY ANYWAY [Q]
-
I WONDER HOW ANYONE EXCEPT TOTAL GENIUSES CAN APPLY QUANTUM RELATIVITY. IT'S A COMBINATION OF TWO THEORIES THAT ARE CRAZILY COMPLEX ON THEIR OWN. LET ALONE STRING THEORY.
-
THERE SEEMS TO BE A STRONG CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDYING ASTROPHYSICS AND AROMANTIC ASEXUALITY [IN THE SENSE THAT THE PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE STUDIED ASTROPHYSICS AT SOME POINT - WHICH I'VE NEVER DONE - IS ENORMOUSLY HIGHER AMONG AROCALYPTIST AVENITES THAN AMONG PEOPLE IN GENERAL].

@Cassiopeia NOWHERE DID I STATE THAT THEIR LAUGH WOULD BE A NEGATIVE OUTCOME I'LL NEED TO THINK A BIT ON WHETHER TO TELL THEM.
-
@Cassiopeia BECAUSE OF GENDER PREJUDICE, IT WOULD MAKE MY COLLEAGUES LAUGH A LOT IF I TOLD THEM THAT I KNIT TO CALM MYSELF
-
@Cassiopeia IT'S BETTER FOR ME TO FOCUS ON EARNING DOLLARS NOW, SO THAT I CAN RETIRE FASTER. EARNING WILL BE MUCH HARDER WHEN I'M OLDER AND MY MENTAL AGILITY IS WORSE. STRICTLY SPEAKING, I SHOULDN'T BE FORUMING RIGHT NOW, BUT I'M BEING SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED.
