I recently dumped ("dumped" sounds so mean but I didn't want to be ambiguous) my now ex-romantic partner and the arophobic and amatonormative gremlin that lives in my brain is having a lot of fun with that.

I finished my documentary! Here it is.

my aro-spec pride bracelet broke today

In the interest of being honest with everyone on here, I want to say that a friend I got a crush on two years ago and I are now officially in a romantic relationship. I’m not sure where exactly my feelings are since I’ve been trying to push the crush away since getting it because I didn’t want it to complicate our relationship, but here we are. I’m going to stay on Arocalypse if that’s alright with you all, because it does bill itself as a forum for people on the aromantic spectrum, not just aromantics, and I still consider myself on the spectrum. This is the second crush I’ve ever had if I had one back in fifth grade.
Anyway, keep living your best lives, and wish me luck!

My feeling is that anyone who relates enough to the content on the site to want to spend time engaging with it 'belongs' here. If you had to prove all the time that you were 'aro enough', I would not like that. But I don't think this is that kind of place. Aros, grey-ros, demi-ros, romantic allies, etc, should all be made to feel equally welcome here, IMO. Good luck and let us know how your romantic relationship is going some time, if you ever feel like sharing something with us here .

Hi, everyone!
I'm collecting video interviews from non-straight women and transgender and non-binary people on their relationships with their femininity.
If anyone is alright with me interviewing them, please let me know! If you know anyone who might be alright with being interviewed, put them in contact with me!
I'm going to be asking everyone questions like "how does wearing a dress make you feel?" and "do you like being described as feminine?" and I plan on asking questions specific to people's orientations and gender identities as well, such as "how do you respond when people say 'you don't look like a lesbian'?" or "as a trans-girl, do you feel obligated to wear make up to indicate to other people that you are a girl?" or "do people expect you to be available to men as a woman, even after you tell them you are aromantic?"
I'm going to edit all the interviews I get into one cohesive film and then show it in a theater at my school for a suggested donation of about a dollar. I'm going to donate all proceeds to the Urgent Action Fund for Women's Rights, an organization that grants money to activists for women's rights and LGBT+ rights, especially their intersection.
I need to have this finished by March of 2019.
Thanks for your time!

Hello! Some of you may be familiar with GISHWHES, the greatest international scavenger hunt the world has ever seen. Players complete zany/weird/impactful items for points. One of the items is to get 400 people to answer a poll about which side of their teeth they start brushing on. Please, please answer my poll and share it with people!

GISHWHES registration is closing in 17 hours; if any of you want to join my team you should know my team name is Abnosomites.

Hi! Look how much stuff we have in common in our "about" sections! Where in Germany are you? How much German can you speak? I'm German level B1-B2.
-
NO WAY! That's a lot in common I'm currently living in Hamburg though I'll probably move back to NRW in September. German is my first language, so I'd say I'm pretty good at it
Assuming that German isn't your first language, where are you from?
Also that's really good if it's not your first language especially because German isn't the easiest language to learn from what I've heard

I'm planning my K/S wedding anniversary. It's fun and weird but boy do I feel a little unqualified.
-
so apparently shipping is a thing in "Attack on Titan"
-
I find it ironic that you picked the name "Star Girl" when the books about her by Jerry Spinelli were about her romance
-
I've never heard of those books... (*looks them up*: Wikipedia may be lovely, but whoever wrote the entry for the book did not know how to do a concise plot summary.)
I think there are worse things to unintentionally name yourself after. (At least you didn't tell me that I'd unintentionally named myself after some super horrible romance movie which has no plot except for the main characters having relationship issues (which is my worst nightmare when it comes to choosing profile names...))
-
Haha, yeah. I've only read the first book, and a lot of the book was about being different, about daring to be different, and accepting who you are. The romance was a tool to explore those themes, so it was OK. I read the blurb of the sequel, and it looked like pure romantic crap. I felt upset. Where was Star Girl I knew? *sigh*

I got four aro pride wear things for Chirstmas Eve (and one ace shirt) and I'm really happy that my mom and grandma are coming around to it and I will post pictures later and YAY

I've always thought your profile pic is cute, but I got to the episode it's from last summer. Gotta love how at the end of the episode no-one brings up Spock was stroking another sentient, intelligent being. Damn, you're obviously a huge Trekkie with a low-key obsession with Spock based on your profile. Same. I'm finishing season three of TOS with a person who I staged a Spirk wedding with.

I am looking forward to seeing my space husband very much this winter break...my space husband, who is in a monogamous Star Trek relationship with me and a monogamous romantic relationship with her girlfriend...so she's in two monogamous relationships at once. Haha. Really though, I can't wait to see my friends during winter break!

OH NO.

Hey, is your signature a reference to "Welcome to Nightvale?"

My German host-father asked me "Was hat deine Freundin gesagt?" in regards to the US presidential election. I looked at him blankly for a bit because I translated it as "What has your girlfriend said?" He clarified that he meant Erin, a female friend of mine (who has found me on Arocalypse and can see all the embarrassing stuff I have posted on here). See, in German, "Freundin" can mean "girlfriend" or "female friend" based on how it's used. Given that Thomas just used "Freundin" and expected me to know who I was talking about, I guess he thinks Erin is my girlfriend?? He doesn't think I have just one female friend, right? I didn't attempt to clarify my relationship with Erin because...well...I'm just not up to it today. The election has made me a wreck.

Oh yes, that classic awkward situation. In my first language we have the same possible misunderstanding, but queer people have already started to diy their way around it. They started to say something along the lines of 'she is my girfriendly' when referring to a platonic female friend. Can you do similar word butchery in german?

Here is a picture of the necklace charm! Huzzah!

Thanks, @Dodgypotato.

Here is a link to a picture of the green popsicle necklace, and the bonus of my ace pride nails: file:///Users/sophie/Pictures/Photo%20Booth%20Library/Pictures/Photo%20on%206-27-16%20at%207.51%20PM.jpg -
That same friend who bought me the popsicle necklace, which she will gift to me with a handmade chain tomorrow, came up with something lovely today: plating. Plating is platonic shipping. As "shipping" springs from the term "relationship" (), "plating" springs from the term "platonic." By the way, this friend's name is Laura. Also, I'm going to San Francisco Pride tomorrow! I'm going to show my gray-aromantic pride by wearing a green theme (green skirt with a matching shirt, green scrunchie with silver accents, green socks, and green eyeshadow) and sporting a gray-aromantic flag on my arm. I also am showing asexual pride with ace flags on each of my fingernails (thanks to Laura!) and wearing a black ring Laura is letting me borrow for tomorrow, because the one she gave me is a slightly too large for me. Laura rocks!
