  1. I attended a workshop on queer ecologies last night, and I thought it might be a good topic to discover. Often scientists look at the natural world through heteronormative lenses, but there's cases of same sex co-parenting, community co-parenting, and use of sex for non-reproductive purposes in nature. This article explains queer ecologies: https://www.britishecologicalsociety.org/introducing-queer-ecology-embracing-diversity-in-the-natural-world/

Also, let's get some dates possibly in March, a Saturday or Sunday maybe? Evenings UK time seem to work better than earlier?

    Annual social: Sunday 14th 2024, 7PM (GMT)

Our annual social, hopefully with online games. If you can help here let me know, I'll be very grateful! It should be the usual link at meet.google.com/qum-mmnd-xkw but I'll double check it works prior to the meet.

Just a reminder about our annual social tonight (7PM GMT). I've checked the link and it still works. See you then! 😀

Shall we say Sunday 19th then? Maybe an early meet, perhaps 1pm (GMT)?

We must be well overdue to have a meet! Give me some availabilities for the next month or so of Saturdays and Sundays?
Also, I was recently sent this article https://www.verywellmind.com/can-the-five-love-languages-help-your-relationship-4783538 and even though I find the emphasis on romantic relationships frustrating, I thought it might be a good topic for discussion from an aromantic perspective and how it impacts all our relationships generally if at all. The article briefly speaks about the topic in relation to relationships with family members and colleagues etc. Frustrating that it's only briefly but I suppose take what we can!

Thoughts on this topic idea and dates/times?

Just to remind everyone of our meet tomorrow at 1pm (GMT) at meet.google.com/qum-mmnd-xkw

The next online discussion meet is Sunday 17th September, 7PM (BST). Topic TBC

Any suggestions for the topic? Is there anything you'd particularly like to discuss?

I will check that the link still works at meet.google.com/qum-mmnd-xkw nearer the date.

Hi, I will need to rearrange this unfortunately, unless you are happy to meet without me? If you want me to rearrange it the options are 6:30PM Sunday 24th (I could also do Saturday that weekend), or Sunday 1st again around 6:30/7ish (all times UK). I'm aware I still need to choose a topic also.

    nice.

as for topic nothing much on my in particular but there are a couple of topics on the old ideas doc that i think might be interesting

    Intersection with gender identity

    Intersection with relationship anarchy
What aro resources do we need?

any of those would be interesting to me. the last one probably is the one i have more to say than others but perhaps try to stick one of these subjects in over the next few months.

I like these suggestions. Maybe intersection and resources as a topic.

My timezone is EST. Weekends are pretty open, so irdc when yall meet, I will 99% be able to make it work. If I'm going to be staying up (which I would) I prefer Saturday or Friday nights though, not Sunday nights

You are 5 hours behind me then so no worries about staying up at night as I'll be fast asleep! I'll see what the others say also (I organise on both here and Facebook).

Hey, any room for one more person?

Yes, sure! Where about are you from so we can consider you with regards to timezones? Those dates mentioned aren't any good for some of our regulars anyway, so we're still discussing dates for the next one. We aim for once a month but that aim is more for me to ensure I actually arrange something on occasion! We usually choose a Sunday (or weekend day) to try and help with timezone differences. What's your availability for September weekends?

  8. What about the topic "Aro pride":

Do you feel aro pride? Is this something you demonstrate?

Are you out/how out are you? Do you wish you could be more out?

I thought it having been pride month last month (only a week or so late!🤣)

    It'll be Sunday 9th July 2023 at 7pm BST.

  9. I think I've made a mistake and didn't schedule the meet tomorrow, I certainly didn't on the Facebook group! I thought I'd scheduled it but if this is news to people here it might be too late to do so!! I also thought I said 12noon BST on the topic of family but I think I only spoke about it on a thread in the Facebook group 😕. It looks like here I said 1pm! If you were planning on going let me know?

  10. Just a reminder about tomorrow's meet. I'll check that the usual link still works later. Also, just be aware of time zone differences this month as they might be different if you have already put the clocks forward. The meeting is 7pm GMT and the UK (where I'm based) is on GMT until the end of the month. I look forward to catching up with you tomorrow.

    Edit: meet.google.com/qum-mmnd-xkw still works 😃
