What is it like to be demigender?

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry if this seems rude or anything. I'm curious to how people feel with being demigender. Like, is it feeling like you're kind of one gender and just going with it? I don't understand it completely when it's described on other websites, so I'm hoping you guys can explain what it actually feels like. I know this isn't easy to explain, so just give it a try. I'm wondering if maybe I'm demigender, since I'm okay with my gender assigned at birth, but don't quite feel the same as other girls. Is that what it is to be demigender? Please share below!

I feel similarly and identify as cis-apathetic or cis-genderless. (Well, mostly - I'm also a bit genderfluid, which makes it more confusing.)

Hmm, I wonder if I'm not cis-apathetic as well, since while I'm "comfortable" being female, it kinda doesn't mean that much to me. Like, if anything I'm more of a tomboy type, but it's not a conscious rejection of femininity for the most part; I don't even think about the fact I'm a woman and how that impacts me on a day to day level. I am a person but my gender isn't a major defining factor of who I think/feel I am.

ETA - I also think sometimes if I woke up one day and I'd changed sex overnight, it might be a slight improvement but not make a huge difference to me personally.

I've decided that that sounds like me as well after some more research. I'm just wondering though if there's a difference between cis-apathetic and cis-genderless.

As far as I know they're synonymous.

Hi, everyone!

I'm collecting video interviews from non-straight women and transgender and non-binary people on their relationships with their femininity.

If anyone is alright with me interviewing them, please let me know! If you know anyone who might be alright with being interviewed, put them in contact with me!

I'm going to be asking everyone questions like "how does wearing a dress make you feel?" and "do you like being described as feminine?" and I plan on asking questions specific to people's orientations and gender identities as well, such as "how do you respond when people say 'you don't look like a lesbian'?" or "as a trans-girl, do you feel obligated to wear make up to indicate to other people that you are a girl?" or "do people expect you to be available to men as a woman, even after you tell them you are aromantic?"

I'm going to edit all the interviews I get into one cohesive film and then show it in a theater at my school for a suggested donation of about a dollar. I'm going to donate all proceeds to the Urgent Action Fund for Women's Rights, an organization that grants money to activists for women's rights and LGBT+ rights, especially their intersection.

I need to have this finished by March of 2019.

Thanks for your time!
