@bookgeek What I would do is tell him, as politely as you can, that he may have wrongly assumed you liked him and that no, you don't like him romantically but that you would still like to be friends with him.
  3. So, I did a peer review for a girl's essay today and her topic was "Can you find love online?". The first sentence of her essay says

"All of us want that special moment where we lock eyes with a beautiful stranger and fall madly in love." The last sentence in the essay says "Isn't finding love what everyone wants?" I have typed on the cover letter that not everyone experiences romantic love and I tried to present myself in an educational way. Based on this, would any of you find something like that invalidating? Tomorrow is the scheduled day for my class to share their feedback on the essays they were assigned to review and I plan to show her my thoughts. If anyone would like, I can update you on the results and her reaction.

So, I shared my feedback with the person writing about dating and she seemed very open-minded about my suggestions. She even apologized in case she offended me (she didn't). She only said she wasn't putting much thought into it and was only focusing on straight and gay relationships. She seemed to know about asexuality and aromanticism fairly well, too. All in all, it was a pleasant experience.

    Does aromanticism affect appearance?

Perhaps that question could be part of the reason why I don't wear a lot of deodorant in the morning (unlike at least one of my roommates). I wear just enough so I don't stink. Oddly, though, when I was younger (say, high school age), I didn't want to wear any deodorant. I had always complained to my mom that if I wore deodorant, it would make girls become attracted to me (which probably wouldn't have been the case, at least not to the extent I made it in my head). Luckily, though, the deodorant I wear is scentless, so I don't have to worry about those smells that tend to make someone more attractive. I also used not to shower as much for similar reasons and because I was less mature and not as conscious about hygiene.

What Are Your Favorite LGBT+ YouTube Channels?

I especially like McHusbands. I also like Ash Hardell, though I haven't been watching her as much. Do you like McHusbands? Do you like Ash Hardell? Do you have any other favorites? Let us know in the comments section below!

    You might be aro if...

When I was in junior high, a girl had invited me to sit with her friends one day at lunch. In the middle of this interaction, she said to me, "I love you, do you love me?" There was one word in my head at that time.......AWKWARD! (I don't even think I gave her a response!) Over time, as I have replayed that scenario in my head, I've been thinking about how I could have responded. Looking back, I've been thinking that it would've been wise to say something along the lines of..."When you say 'love', what do you mean? There are multiple types of love; romantic, platonic, familial and (my favorite) spiritual love."

    Aromanticism and Religion

I identify with no religion. I see it as limiting to have a label because anything not fitting into that label one might reject. One should not reject any of their experiences. Rather, I see religions and labels as "channels" with which you can gather information. You don't want to limit yourself to just one channel, right? Not all your experiences will be accepted that way! What I do is I try to live in the I AM, the present moment, with acceptance of all my experiences, no matter what they are. PM me if you have questions.
